@Dette! BFFP! You little rockstar! Well done lovely Although I gotta say, this is getting a little "single white female" If you get yourself a Dawn French hairdo and have a little boy named Thomas I'm gonna move to New Zealand How are you feeling? Cautious but excited? You must be in with such a good shot now with DE and DS! Now for the countdown until heartbeat - that's the hardest wait I reckon, but I'm feeling really positive for you and am sending truckloads of babydust your way. In the meantime, sit down, put your feet up and think lovely positive thoughts How many embies on board? Do we have a chance at multiples here??? I'm SO excited for you! Do you know, I hadn't even thought about the fact it is 5 months till I'm back in Greece - holy $h!t, that's not long at all! Although when I consider that being in Greece on my own (Thomas will stay home with Daddy) may be my first opportunity to sleep through the night without waking, it feels a lot further away
@CherryCP - welcome aboard I'm afraid I don't know anything about those clinics although the name Iakentro is familiar. I think this journey is all about doing your research then picking the clinic that is right for you and pushing back on meds and protocols etc if need be. There is no one clinic that is right for everyone and I'm fond of saying "This is your bus trip, YOU drive the bus because you know what's best for you mentally and what works for your body". Now that you've decided to go to Greece you'll find the time flies! You'll be on meds before you know it

@Wetsetter - I remember being really disappointed too when I discovered a DE cycle still had lots of meds, I was SO over putting drugs into my body and all the side effects. However these days after seeing the wonderful results of a DE cycle, I'll take as much meds as necessary, short term pain - long term gain!

How good is it to hear good news? congrats Dette. It gives hope to us all! Relish the day, it must feel amazing

Yasna - I still havent decided on Embryoland or Serum. They both sound good. Im just going through the motions and will pick soon ( like you I am also an overthinker). Unfortunately I think a side effect of infertility is questioning yourself over and over. It's scary but also very exciting - just imagine if you have a bubba in your arms by Xmas. I am hoping for one in Feb (valentines bub would be nice )

Thanks for the tips on travel Vixjc

    sorry CherryCP I cant help

Congratulations Dette !!!!!! on your BFP !!! You must be sooo happy!

Me on the other hand, I'm sitting in tears here typing to you girls.. I didn't want to wait and got a scan at 1030am ..it showed my lining as being "around 6mm", and now I have 3 follicles developing.. Maybe its starting to compact??? I have no idea why its not fluffing up...but I've been crying all day.. I was hoping for at least 7mm today?? I'm yet to ring Dr Kanakas since its probably 6am there now, I'll let him sleep in this time, last time I woke him up and felt horrible !

Sigh. I even mowed the lawn to try and distract myself and found myself crying all over my lawn. I'm not in good form. I'm so impatient and just want a baby in my arms. I really hope it happens for me, if not now, then soon?

I'm not sure what to do now..but looks like I will leave it for this month and try again next month?? Unless the Dr thinks I should fly on this lining???Its day 21 of my cycle...hes probably already harvested my donor..im so depressed im a mess. I cant see the monitor through my tears..not sure why im so upset...I guess I really want it NOW! Or the meds are making me super emotional...I think its a bit of both..

    Ill keep you updated...

Well I spoke to Dr Kanakas and he said get on a plane! Start progesterone..!

He asked me to send him a scan of my lining and he said it was homogeneous and a good lining, not women are all the same he said, "I've had twins from 6 & 7 mm and sometimes nothing from 9mm, yours looks fine..." In one of the scans it measured 6.6...so he said that's good enough.

So I'm going to GREECE ! Probably tomorrow or the next day since he wants me to transfer on Saturday afternoon !!!

Holy moly this is freaking me out !!! I have to pack, what to wear? eek !

I'm a bit happier but not super excited since I'm in shock.

Least I've stopped crying, now im like

Thanks Cat for the kind thoughts, you're a darling....I guess I just bite the bullet and give this a shot?

    Bye Bye Brisbane Hello Athens..

Wish me luck girls !!! I'll talk to you again from Athens, I'll only stay a week, since I need to get back and make money, plus I have 2 dogs and 6 chickens that need looking after, so I wont be there too long...Its basically a fertility trip.

ok I'm off to figure out what to wear, book a flight etc etc

Oh yeah Yasna. How exciting. Yeah Dr Kanakas.

Please ser keep us updated. I also have dogs and chooks so planning a trip away is often a challenge.

i just saw my sister (38) who had a transfer with her own eggs 10 days ago and it looks like her period has come. Her failure suddenlynmade me panic. She had a transfer of a hatching blastocyst. Then I thouhght, hang on I will be getting a lovely 20 year old egg so it will be ok. For the first time I felt relieved at not being stuck in that nightmare of failed cycles with my own eggs.

COngrats Yasna - that is great
I can only imagine how you are feeling but at least your in the game now. Being back home wishing and waiting is not really in the game - you have a real chance now to get your baby and that is awesome.
Good luck and hope to hear more good news soon

I too contacted Ruth about a week ago and am meeting with her tonight - I think they are the 2 clinics she recommends. I guess if I have spoken with 3 different clinics then I can decide who to go with from there. Still hoping to get there late may / early june. I hope I havent missed the boat with all my procrastinating.

Woo hoo have an amazing trip you are going to love it.

Are you staying at the President Hotel ? His offices are right around the corner.

The breakfast for there is ok, I over ate on chocolate spread yum!!
But the meals are awful and $$ when there is so much fab food around so cheap.
There is a Aldi style super market just two block down the hill, they sell everything there its huge. I even bought some shoes there lol.
The bakery across the road from there has the best spinach and feta pie too.

I would take a light style jacket with me, and jumpers that are light but warm. I took too many hoodies and a heavy coat. It was too hot walking like that.

Buy up on progesterone great and so much cheaper than here. I bought like 30 packets of the stuff lol.

Use the metro for quick cheap sights seeing. Most attractions are so close and its really easy to use. $ 2.40 for a 70 min ticket or 5 euro for all day.
We made a few stuff ups and caught the wrong trains, or went the wrong way. So it was easy to back the next train back, as stations are announced before each stop. And they run quite frequently too, so an easy fix up.

Have a fab trip and come back with some extra baggage

Im going to be stalking this thread like mad

Yasna - yay!!!!! Enjoy Greece. So looking forward to hearing all about it. My fingers are crossed for you.

positano1 - it's been 11 days since my transfer. No this time we only stayed in Greece 3 days, as we spent 8 wks travelling around when we were there in September last year. This time was incredibly easy as we had embro's frozen, so ensured my lining was good to go, then jumped on a plane, had 2 embro's popped in the day we arrived. Then 2 days to rest & then flew home. Simple!

If you are linking up your cycle with donor, they usually get you to have injection to shut down your cycle as that gives them a wider window to use. Then they get you to start meds at the same time as your donor.
If your partner is giving sperm, you will need to be there for a minimum 5 days, if it's a double donor, then you only need to be there for a few days, it's up to you how long you want to stay.

Francesthecat - do you have your dates yet; is it April or May?

Wetsetter - good luck deciding between the 3 clinics. It truly is a mind scramble. However, on the bright side, the clinics in Greece all seem to really know what they are doing, so I'm sure you are in safe hands. Keep us posted on your thought process.

Vinjx, my little twin! I'm definitely following in your footsteps. Hopefully in 8 mths time we can compare baby photos & you will be up the duff again with a sibling for Thomas. No sleep EVA again for you friend.

My HCG level was 842 at exactly 4 wks; does anyone know is that good?

    xx
