Yasna I am sorry to hear things are not progressing as planned. I am sure you will get there. I have no idea about this whole process. Who is determining your medication? Is it your FS here or Dr Kanakas? Why are you having a problem? Does the lining not have to be the same as when you go through an ivf cycle yourself? There was never any talk about my lining during my cycles other than the fact it was great.

Can I also ask people on here why they chose the overseas option, rather than look for a local donor? My boyfriend now says he wants to pursue both options simultaneously. We have contacted a donor but she has been contacted by over 100 recipients. My boyfriend is very uncomfortable with the fact you don't get to see the donors in Greece.

It seems here though all the donors are keen on an ongoing relationship and I am not sure how much ongoing contact I would want and certainly wouldn't want to mislead anyone.

In reconsidering the local option it does seem cheaper and easier. I have been told $7000-$10 000 after medicare rebate. Whereas Embryoland I think works out to be about $9000 and then flights and accommodation on top of that.

thanks for your help and good luck Yasna.

    Hey girls..

Thanks for your feedback, its really appreciated !!!

Its a real stressful journey but it helps having support from people going through the same thing.

I will get some clexane tomorrow, Dr De Ambrosis "Wazza" suggests I take it and Vixjc, you're right, I don't want to think "I should have used clexane maybe" when I'm clotting from the mass of oestrogen im on..so tomorrow I'll go and get some..erh...I will do the ice pack thing..thanks..

My fertility specialist here is prescribing meds Positano and Dr Kanakas agrees with his protocol, whatever it takes to get the lining to grow. I asked my Dr here how my lining was for previous ivf's and he said it would have been fine or he wouldn't have gone ahead. So who knows, might just take a few goes to get me back on track?

As for why I personally haven't gone for a donor here? I don't want to look for a donor I'm too fussy, I like the idea of someone else choosing for me since I find it quite difficult choosing. I had a hard time trying to find a egg donor in South Africa, im way too fussy. I gave up and rang Greece, then after talking to Dr Kanakas on phone and Skype, I trusted he would make the right choice for me. I chose the sperm donor, that's the easy part. Plus I think Greek women are beautiful, so I think Dr Kanakas will choose a Greek ED for me since he said I look Greek anyway. I'm sick of trying in Australia, I'm trying overseas options, different methods and a little holiday to boot. I love travelling, so I get to kill two birds with one stone.

I just hope I get OVERSEAS SOOOOOON !! Grow lining growwww...

Positano - we took the overseas option so that we could actually get a donor. There are local donors but so few of them so there was no guarantee we'd ever actually get a local donor and I don't have years to wait for a local donor. Also, unless I actually knew the donor well I would not be comfortable having them in my child's life, and I don't know anyone who would donate me eggs and are young enough to do so. All my friends/family are too old. As for what the donor looks like, I adjusted to that over time and trusted that Serum were choosing a donor that was suitable to me.

With the lining, when receiving a donor cycle you do need to have the same kind of lining as with an OE cycle. However sometimes your body just reacts differently to an OE cycle that has involved additional drugs to what you have used on a DE cycle. Also, if you are a poor responder like me, most of the time you never get as far as worrying about the lining because you can't even make it to egg collection.

Hope all is going well Dette! Serum are so lovely hey - the ivf world needs more compassion like they show at Serum

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry to hear Yasna that your linning is misbehaving Hopefuly more meds can it get it growing. And you will be on a plane very soon.

Im still on the pill, and WTF it seems AF has shown early. I've just started the nasal spray. They say not to worry yeah, right this is a week early.
Why have I gone from no AF to this.
They just said its normal to bleed on the pill, grrrrr. It's just makes you worry, non stop.

As as for me going overseas, rather than local donor, we did not want to wait. We have been stuffing around for years with this IVF. We have offers for surogacy, not eggs. My sister is older than me, so that was no an option.
I have Eastern European looks, so Greece was an easy option for us.

Hope your lovely embies are snuggling in nicely Dette.

Best set wishes for your cycle Rachael.

Oh Frances I've never bled on the pill, that must suck and confuse the **** out of you???? WTF indeed...I was on it 3 months solid, no period...your lining is probably so good it wants to empty itself a bit...I wouldn't worry too much, ask the Dr's they know their stuff...

I'm sweating my morning appointment, wondering if my lining has moved or not???? I just slapped another 4 patches on top of the red rash they seem to be giving me. Not happy with the patches ONE BIT. Itchy owchy, annoying..but bearable I guess...I'll do what it takes.

I'm yet to get clexane since I have 2 scripts with different strengths, one is 40 and the other 60. I'll ask Dr Wazza which one to use, then I'll start injecting, that is, if everything looks good tomorrow......

I feel like all im talking about is lining...cant wait to give you more exciting updates....!!

Hi all. I'm just thread jumping here. Yasna, not sure if you know, but you shouldn't put the patches on top of one another. They should go on different spots. Apparently the patches leave a residue when you take them off and it may block their effectiveness. Also, as you said they get red and itchy. In the end you end up looking spotty as you have patches, sticky residue and red spots all over your tummy. 😜

    Hi
sorry for the questions, you ladies are teaching me so much and I think I am heading over in May so am on a steep learning curve. And I really appreciate it.
My FS will only help me to a certain extent as they are now owned by a uni and there is a spotlight on them to make sure they do the right thing. And with the recent "Gammy" surrogacy story (which was just horrible) apparently they can't be seen to help o/s type of 'baby' stuff. A bit of a crackdown from the govt apparently. So he said he will help as long as it is for "gyno" work so I feel this forum is going to be a bit of a sounding board as I will only get limited help from him. I am hoping I won't need him for more than a scan and blood(hope to get the drugs thru my gp). And of course his advice (which he is great he just needs to do the right thing).

    sorry for the ramble

my questions are (given Yasna your lining is not cooperating) is it the progynova that is throwing it out? Isn't it meant to help out. I have had natural FET in the past and the lining has been good without the drugs so not sure I want to take it if he has a chance to throw things out. Do your know why it is not cooperating?

vixjc, how do you know if you are a clotter? I want to reduce the drugs I need to take as much as possible but also not take any risks? And clexane does not sound nice? Not sure if that is possible. Our issue has been DH sperm but now I am 40 I don't want to try with my 'old' eggs (my body is tired from 11 goes). Also is clexane more so something you take after ET?

as for going to Greece it just seems much easier for me and having had the 'share' foster children It's challenging, well it was for us anyway. Everyone raises children differently.

    Good morning ladies,

you have all been so busy whilst I was away. Fantastic work!!!!!

frances, don't stress, the same thing happened to me but all was well in the end. The body, has a mind of its own, think of it as a positive sign, it wants to get on with business. Good luck, I must say I found the nasal spray pretty yucky but I'm guessing you've been down that road before. Bring on May & positive results.

Yasna, good luck this morning with your lining. I'm sure it will be good, the meds seem to be able to work miracles, Vinjx is a prime example, they gave her enough drugs for an elephant but look now, she has a beautiful baby boy.

As for the clexane, I'm on this also (40). Yes it's yucky & my **** is bruised from top to bottom but if it helps, I'm on board. I did a bit of research on this & it is very common for people with fertility problems to have blood clotting issues.

I later found out that I had the mthfr gene which guess what, means the body doesn't absorb folate properly & causes clotting issues, da dah - that would have been helpful to know 7 ivfs ago. Alas, the clexane helps with that & so does the baby asprin they probably have you on.

wet setter, I have been on clexane from day 2 of my cycle & would continue on right through till wk 20 of pregnancy but this is because I have the mthfr gene. I believe I think the normal protocol is till week 10 of pregnancy.
Also wet setter, after all you've been through, I think you will find going to Greece a pleasant & enjoyable experience. I certainly did, especially after the hell ivfs I'd been through here in oz. My fingers are crossed for you.

Well I have 5 more days till I can pee on a stick, wish me luck & say a prayer for me.

    xxxx

Good luck Yasana with your scan. Hope those extra meds are certainly giving it a hurry along.
Yuck thise patches, the ones Wazza wrote me up for are huge, I still have red itchy spots from those. Even my ample bum could not take 4 at once.
Dr Nick had me on different ones, the size of a postage stamp.
I hope your nearly primed and ready to go very soon.
    Good luck

Yay for PUPO Dette I hope you are enjoying your trip. I'll be stalking for updates

Thank your for your well wishes, at least for now it's seemed to stop. So with some luck I'll get a withdrawal bleed at the end of next week.
Then the fun of, DEX this time. Yay I can see myself easily eating my way through some huge fab food.

good luck with the wait Dette, that's exciting. What are you doing in Greece to try to take your mind off it.
Is there much to do around the city? Also how did every go with booking flights I have some rough dates now from Dr Niko but of course they may change and the travel agents are looking at me like I am crazy saying i dont exactly know when i will be flying out and they said a flexible flight is much more expensive.
