Woo Hoo Dette happy and safe travels. Sending lots of lots baby dust..

Thank you Stacey for your post. So greatly put!!!

Also re the payments, this also put me at ease. I did not pay anything, until a few days after I got there.
I was not able, to do an international money transfer to Serum, as they would not provide the full address details, of the account holder. As this is required by our banking laws. When I advised them of this, no issues.
So I paid them, in cash and travel card just before transfer. They were very accommodating. Saved me bank fees as well.

Dr N kanas wanted cash & card or all cash on arrival as well. Nothing up front.

Me and DH were prepared to do the full on bolt if we weren't happy.

We also did some home work on other clinics while there as well. What they offered and price differences were very different. We got to meet some of the Drs for a consultation, which we did not pay for either. I don't know of any specialist who will see people for free here at home.
You might be getting a cheaper price, but with the add ons etc like freezing, scans blood tests they were more expensive. So make sure you find out exactly what is included in the cycle.

Wow I am so glad I joined this forum. It is great hearing everyone's stories about travelling to Greece. It was such hard thing to accept I couldn't have a biological child my partner, but now I am looking forward and just can't wait to have a baby inside me.

Wet Setter Dr Kanakas does start looking for a donor straightaway. A woman told me it only took him 2 days to find hers. It has been a bit longer for me but I am not worried. I am blonde, blue eyed so he will find me a Polish donor. The other woman told me she accidentally ran into her donor at the clinic and she was beautiful and would have been a perfect match for me. I understand he takes great care in choosing a suitable donor.

Francesthecat have you been to both Serum and Embryoland? Can I ask why the two clinics?

And yes my understanding is no money up front. One woman told me when they arrived they went across the road to the pharmacy and paid for the donor's medication.

Thanks for the support Dette. I have certainly feel like I have researched, researched, researched. It is a lot of money and we will probably only get one shot at it. It feels like a big responsibility to make sure I get it right in terms of choosing clinic as my partner is paying for the lot and has already paid for three rounds of IVF.

Dette I wish all the best of luck. I can't wait to hear how you get on. Are you having a FET from your first cycle? I feel very excited for you.

I would also love to hear how many blastocysts people got. One of the women who went to Embryoland got 6.

Are you already in Greece Yasna?

which clinic are you going to? Do you have any idea how many follicles your donor has at this point or do you just get to,d how many eggs are collected?

    good luck with the scan.

thanks for the good luck!! i need it!! Same to you

Im not in Greece yet, not booking a flight until I see my lining fluff up!

    one more sleep!!!!!

im going to Embryoland with Dr Kanakas, so far he seems really nice and I trust him to find me a good egg donor. I have limited information at this stage but when i call him tomorrow night to give him the results of my scan I will ask more questions. I like that its up to the Dr to find the ED, since I would be too fussy. I hope he is fussy too and she looks like me.

I just really hope im in Athens next week!!!

    Good luck Yasna

Things are moving fast.. I only just sent and enquiry with my details to Dr Kanakas and he called me in my mobile last night, sent me a script for Progynora, booked a skype and asked me to choose a sperm donor. WOW I was blown away but how quickly this has gone. I think I have made my mind up to go..... this s**t is becoming real

I have a few questions ladies, hope you can help:
Yasna - how long were you on the Progynora for before your planned transfer? And does this start when you get your period. I am a little worried that my FS is 2 hours away and i cant get in touch to talk to him (hes on holidays) and not sure if my GP will prescribe it.

Francesthecat- I think I read that you had a sedation before transfer. Was that ok? I am a little worried about my tight opening of my cervix.

Does anyone have any experience of endosratch - my FS has said they have seen a big increase in pregnancies. Does Dr Knakas do one?

thankyou so much all, it is wonderful to hear from your experiences. It really opens this up to be a possibility.

    Thx

Wet Setter I am so pleased for you taking this first step. I felt the same way. After talking with Dr Kanakas on Skype I felt calm for the first time and optimistic. An overseas cycle just seemed so big and daunting before but now that is not the case.

Can GP's write you a script for the progynova? I think that you take the script from Dr Kanakas to your GP and get them to write you one you can fill in Australia? Is this the case?

Yasna, when do you expect to do a transfer? Day 11 tomorrow and you are not in Greece or on a plane??? My boyfriend and I are also fussy which is one reason why we are looking at overseas rather than in Australia. The egg donor groups here don't seem to like people looking for a particular type of donor.

Rachel70 sorry I am not familiar with your story. Did you have a fresh transfer with Dr Kanakas before? Did you get a positive result that didn't progress? How many embryos do you have in the freezer? Did it take Dr Kanakas long to find you a donor?

Does anyone have Embryoland's success rates? Dr Kanakas said over 55% but I don't know if this was for a positive HCG or first heart beat or live birth. My boyfriend wants statistics. The Czech clinics seem to have high figures.

It really is encouraging knowing I am not alone in this journey and that going overseas to get a donor is not a terrible thing to do. We all just want to be holding a baby in our arms.

Yasna silly me I was thinking you were coming to day 11 and thinking about EPU. Obviously you don't need to be in Greece until after EPU time.

Positano - I suspect your gp can write a script for progynova as it is the drug they use to help women going through menopause.
