    Question Cervix soft but closed...

Hi all, I have some questions that I hope someone can answer or share their experiences. I am 38w4d today and have been having pre labour symptoms for about 10 days. Lots of tightenings, mild contractions, back pain, period pain, cervix pain and loosing mucus. At my OB appointment today she checked to see if anything was happening. I couldn't believe it when she said cervix was closed but it is soft. She said bubs head is low and engaged so that's good. I guess I thought I might go into labour anytime but this has me thinking maybe not? I guess I want to know if anyone has had the same verdict and then gone into labour soon after? TIA

I think that's effacing, which from memory is a good sign, can anyone confirm?
