Im 16 weeks with my first, and i judge MYSELF everytime i pick one up. I did so well at quitting to begin with.. Then it all seemed to come crashing down. I havent read all the replies, but honestly if someone said something negative to me in the street i'd tell them where to go.. The last thing i need right now is to be put down and made to feel worse about myself for it... I need support from those around me.

If I saw someone in the street having a go at a pregnant smoking woman, I'd probably tell them where to go too.

Right or wrong I don't feel it's anyone's place to judge another person for anything, no one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes & bad choices at times & I would bet my life that everyone has a skeleton/s in their closet that they wouldn't like to be judged for, so i believe take a look at yourself before you go judging anyone else as I guarantee you're not perfect either, that is just my opinion & how I feel on judging, who are we to do so?!

I'd never say anything. I'd keep my option completely to myself but yes I judge.

To be completely honest I hate all smoking and judge everyone who does. I'd never say anything to anyone but in my head I am.

When on the ttc /IVF rollercoaster, I felt quite bitter toward women who got pregnant easily and then, imo, didn't seem to take basic care toward their unborn babies. My thoughts were along the lines of how many women would do anything to have a baby and to look after it, but others (who conceived easily) would risk what they had without a second thought.

However, I know these thoughts (of mine) weren't fair either. They were very much coloured by the pain I was going through, and I'm sure it's not as black and white as that. I would never say anything to someone I saw smoking (unless I knew them very well) but I'd still find it hard not to judge.

Haven't read the replies yet but to be honest I do.
More so because I smoked up until I discovered I was pregnant and also because majority of the smoking pregnant women I know are doing it without a care for their child. Most of them really don't care at all and have no guilt. And I've even seen a pregnant lady get extremely angry and chuck a "tantrum" because "God Dammit mums gunna say I got to cut down smoking now".

I know how hard it is to give but if there is no other circumstances I think at least trying/wanting to quit is something you should do.

Or at least have some guilt about it. Don't hate the baby for needing clean air!

EDIT: I would never say anything to a random. I don't know there circumstances ect but the woman I know that just don't care I think is terrible.

No, I don't. I feel sad that she hasn't quit & hope she'll be able to stop.

In most cases there's nobody who can judge a pregnant smoker harder than she's judging herself. I don't know if that's her only cigarette of the day or what else is going on in her life.

It's one think to judge silently and be upset about it it's another to verbally express those opinions and judgments though. Would you actually verbalise your disgust to a random pregnant lady??
