    Hi ladies,

    An update from CT!

From the 12 eggs fertilized on Friday only 2 looking remotely OK And I mean borderline!!!

I was called in for a 3 day transfer today! Needless to say we are very disappointed at this result. From the highs of getting good fertilization numbers to the lows of poor quality embryos which stand little chance

I know its not over yet but I don't hold out a lot of hope. The doctor and embryologist could not say why it has gone so pear shaped but I will inquire further.

Anyone on this thread or know of anyone getting a BFP with poor quality 3 day embryos? Positive stories much appreciated right now

Hope you are all traveling along well

    Dear bubhubbers- dearest bubhubbers!

I'm a long-time lurker, a Canadian who has been incredibly lucky to have followed your stories, your highs and lows, and who has been able to learn so much through your experiences. I'm finally chiming in now for two reasons: The first is to say a whole-hearted thank you to all of you for posting on this forum and to JodiW for starting it. Without you I would have been in the dark about so many things associated with ED in SA - I wouldn't have known where to start. I might not even have known this was my best option in this long and (so far) disappointing journey to what I thought was my god-given right to motherhood (ha!). My husband and I have just returned from CFC and Dr LeRoux and we're now in the hellish 2ww - I'm going a little out of my mind, going from being busy busy busy to just... waiting. We actually got married not even a week before we left, so most people thought this was a honeymoon for us (it was, to a certain extent - what a beautiful country!). The timing, while slightly insane, stopped me from obsessing about all the ED possibilities.

My second reason for posting is to reply to January - you got me moving on this - to tell you that there IS HOPE. I'm so sorry about those results but I have definitely heard about women who have success stories from the direst of circumstances. My acupuncturist was down to her last frozen embryo that had been poorly graded and was considered a waste of time to transfer - she now has a healthy and happy daughter. Closer to home, my sister (who went through 9 OE and DE IVF procedures) got pregnant with a donor embryo that had been frozen for - get ready for it - a DECADE. They didn't have much hope because it essentially had freezer burn and it lost some cells because of that. Her daughter, now 7 months, is the happiest and most adorable baby I have actually ever seen - no joke. Perfect in every way. It was my sister's final attempt - after 8 years she was finally calling it quits if this didn't work. Her attitude is: Your baby will find you. I find this quite comforting and I hope you do, too. I'll have my fingers crossed for you.

Thank you once again, everybody, and I wish all of you the best of luck. Please know that you've had - you do have - quiet supporters out there who are rooting for you.

    Cheers, A.

Thanks, January! I just had to come on to tell you one more - I was just looking at one of the over 40 boards I used to frequent when I was still trying with my OE and I saw in the siggie of one of the regulars that she had 1 3-day embryo transferred that had a terrible rating - 2.2/5 - and she's now at 4 months pg! That's some hard evidence, right there

    Keep smiling, A.

Dear January, hang in there, those are great positive stories from Allieoop and been younger eggs miracles do happen.

Allieoop - thanks for joining. I agree with everything you've said. I was stalking the site for along time too, and then thought it was time to join in..... if readers didn't, we wouldn't have all this wonderful information and support, opinions, wacky ideas and everything else that goes along with this journey. I look back to when I first knew we had to do this, and I was in such a space that I don't want to return to, I feel so hopeful now and at peace soon... once I find a donor!! ha ha - then I can move on to the next stage. Once I found this forum it felt so right to go to SA. I write all this, hoping that it give others reading this forum that may be at this stage, or wondering what to do next, which clinic, what age donor, what agency, success rates, and on it goes.... hope and clarity for themselves. This site has been a god send for me as well, and every little post on it is helpful. Just to help others that may have just joined in and not read all 140+ pages !!! (Girls there is a Thread #1 with 101 pages on it I think - there is fantastic information in there, take a couple of days Annual leave to read )

    Hi everyone,'

Thank you again for all your well wishes!
I just had another blood test yesterday (5 days after the last one) and Mickie and Minnie as I now call them seem to be bounding along well. I still don't know if it's a singleton or twins, but will hopefully find out at my scan at the end of next week.

January - My thoughts are with you Though I know how devastated and confused you must be - don't give up hope and faith. My 2 embryos didn't get to blastocysts and they wouldn't even tell me the grading so I imagine it may not have been good news, but I am now pregnant. Miracles do happen! There are so many stories of wonderful miracle embryos that have far less than optimal grading to become healthy happy babies, so don't lose hope. I'm not sure if this will help, but when I had my little ones transferred, I pictured them in my thoughts and meditations to be perfect embryos for me. I hope your little ones snuggle in and find their home with you.

Sootymay - I transferred 2 embryos. Neither were up to the blastocyst stage by day 5 - but I'm now pregnant which shows you don't need perfect embryos. I had 18 eggs on pick up and none left over to freeze.

The Hcg numbers and averages I think can be a bit misleading as the range is huge on what is healthy and what could be multiples.

Allie and Jennillee - Sending clouds of baby dust your way!

BJO4 and Crystal - Fantastic news about the egg pick up and fertilization. My fingers are crossed for the transfer.

Laned - You have given such support and inspiration to so many women on these boards, and have showed nothing but kindness to everyone. Please do not go anywhere!

DJ, Anait and Sunny - Have a safe comfortable flight and a wonderful time in Cape Town!

Net3811 - I'm so sorry you are having such a horrible time with FS/scripts. What a pain in the neck. Congratulations on your plans for the upcoming transfer in Barbados. I've never been but it sounds like a fabulous holiday destination.

Rainbow - Welcome to the forum and I'm happy your joining us for your DE journey.

and finally to BB4Me - Woohoooo!! Congratulations and I'm so so happy for you.

    Hi January,

Wishing I could give you the biggest hug. The doctors know what is best and getting those embies into a natural home was obviously the best thing for them so lets just hope that they nestle in. It's a tough road. It is true though that so many woman have had babies from not so great embies. That was something I couldn't get my head around on our first donor cycle. I had a lovely 3 day fresh transfer, fell pregnant and had a 12 week miscarriage and yet others had compromised embies and now have babies and I am still battling on!! It can still happen for you so don't give up hope. Have seen it first hand.

    Thinking of you,
    Donna x

Allieoop - Welcome to this wonderful forum. I love the saying from your sister
    "Your baby will find you"

Happyheart - I hope your still around. I'm not sure what was said as I think it has been taken down, but maybe there has been a misunderstanding. We are all here to support each other through this journey and all of us mean well. Please don't feel like you need to leave these forums either!

Hi Net3811 a few of the girls have had this issue, its not just a WA thing its the FS or GP preference not to help or make it as difficult as possible. I have suggested medical centres as they are generally pretty good but it sounds like the medical centre you went too wasn't so helpful. Can you try another medical centre maybe a female doctor who would be a little more sympathetic? I paid for my drugs there was no subsidy from Medicare I guess it depends on pensions etc. I didn't pay for my bloods they were bulk billed and I paid for my scan, but I should get some back from Medicare for that. I feel for you The last thing you need is to deal with ignorant unhelpful people, there are some great Docs out there you just have to find them. Good luck

January, I have heard of women getting pregnant from substandard embies and not from the perfect text book embies, enjoy your holiday try not to stress, hard I know but its the worst thing you could do. A bit of retail therapy won't go astray right now and some spa therapy could help as well.

Allieoop welcome and good luck on your journey

    Araline awesome news

    Donna your turn is coming

    Abundance how are you doing?

Happyheart, I agree no need to stay away!!

January, I'm so sorry to hear about your embies not because I don't think it won't work but because you have to worry. I once had a FS tell me that just because an embie does not do well in a dish doesn't mean it won't flourish where it's meant to be in your uterus. There are so many stories of not so great embies doing fine once transferred and no one knows why.Don't give up on things yet, you have a great chance !!

Very quick hi from me, we're doing our Safari today!! I got my embie call yesterday and all 6 are still growing strong so transfer is tomorrow at 12:00. I'll rest Thursday andFriday will be getting ready to go home
