January - Fantastic egg/embryo results, congratulations. Enjoy Franschhoek...it is a must on my list of places to see/stay. Look forward to hearing of your experience there. DP is hoping the 3rd State of Origin will be shown live somewhere in Cape Town...in fact, I think he is stressing...he is a staunch NSW supporter, so he will be on edge until he can either watch or hear the score....wait til I tell him that even if the origin is shown live in Cape Town, it will start half an hour before our first appointment with Dr W...great timing!!!!

Crystal - Congrats too, good egg/embryo numbers. Do you mind me asking what steriods are you on? I have had a bit of a fear about the Cape Town heating!!! Im from Cairns, so I am definitely going to feel the cold...I really don't mind the cold when out and about sightseeing, but I do like a toasty warm room to stay in...fingers crossed that our accommodation will be okay...I actually asked about heating when I booked!!

DJ - We are almost there hun....all our texts, long phone calls and emails over the last 6 months...and we are right near the pointy end now.

Laned - Don't you dare leave....I have followed your SA journey since the beginning. You belong here and we adore hearing about your son and your valuable experience and tips.

Sooty - Hi...enjoy the donor journey...it is exciting to say the least.

Happyheart - Before you know it, your travel date will be here...I cannot believe how quick the last month has gone for us.

JodiW - September is also just round the corner!

Jennilee - How did transfer go?

Anait - Our musketeer group has changed a little, with some of the original members travelling to SA a little earlier....so a BIG welcome to our third musketeer...DJ, yourself and me.

    Araline - Congratulations....wonderful news.

Net - How are you going?

Missleo - You will be glad to know that we are no longer travelling to Kruger and going to Sanbona, yay!! AND thanks to your conversation with ?BB4Me, we are going to the Dwyka Tented Lodge...it looks fabulous. How are you and the twins?

BB4Me and Abundance - How are you girls travelling....when do you test?

Libelle - Sorry to hear your news.

    BJ04 - Congrats too...fabulous egg/embryo numbers....good luck for tomorrow.

    to anyone I have missed.

Finally, can I just say....I don't know what happened about "saffaland"....but PLEASE do not go anywhere anyone. We all belong on here...we all have one dream in mind...baby/ies!!

    Hello again,

Well it is our first day of rain and it is quite nice. We have booked a half day winery tour this afternoon and plan to dine at a French restaurant tonight that Jennilee recommended to us. Everything is very easy here but you do need to be cautious. When we were parking our car in the main street of Francshhoek yesterday a man was loitering around our car. It's almost like they have their patch of the street. I think it is better to give them a few rand than ignore them as we did not want our car broken into or vandalized! Some things like that are different to home and you just have to accept is and go with the flow. We have had no dramas but have not taken any risks either! Of course I was stressing as all my progesterone was in the boot!

Hi Sunny - great to see you back and wow what a great summary of the goings on. I am so happy for you and DJ that you have each others support over here and leading up to the trip. We were so lucky to hook up with the gorgeous Jennilee and her DH so haven't felt so alone through the process. My DH is a crazy NSW supporter as well so I can totally relate to you! There was a bit of stress yesterday working out where we were going to watch the game. DH had packed his Wallabies jersey to wear but forgot to put it on! He was devastated at this oversight and the loss, but the phone call from the clinic cheered him up! The Elephant & Barrel pub in Francshhoek was a great venue for the game. We met a few Aussies there too.

A few of you have mentioned that you are worried about being cold in your accommodation. We have had no trouble so far, in fact our first hotel The Westin was too hot and I turned off the under floor heating in the bathroom. Our accommodation in Francshhoek is also very cosy so no problems so far! It is however very chilly outside!

DJ - We haven't yet decided which day we will fly back but will keep you posted.

    BJ04 - good luck tomorrow

As Sunny has said above please all stay on the forum. Everyone that contributes here is a worthy member and part of this wonderful community that supports us all through the highs and lows

I agree with all of you, no harm was meant about Saffaland so let's move on and I agree we all contribute be it in the planning stages or here.

Happy heart, I meant no offence to you or Laned and I had no idea what it meant to be honest, I also don't think Laned meant anything but good things behind it so no one was in the wrong it was misunderstood.

Sunny, I'm on prednisolone, it makes my cheeks puffy but I always have a ton of energy so it's a double edged sword for me hahaha

january, it's taken me a bit of time to adjust as well it really is being aware and not taking risks I feel bad we haven't got to meet up, it's been a chore at times finding things to do with a 15 year old boy. We went quad biking yesterday haha maybe our transfers will be around the same time
We leave on Saturday and I'll be glad to get home now, I think it would be different if it were just DH and I but DS is itching to get home now

Have any of you checked out the shopping at Canal Walk? They have everything there literally

    Hi girls.....QUESTION????

Just wondering, mobile phones and international calls....what is the best way to go with that? I heard today that you can get an international sim for $40 for 30 days with unlimited dialling and text. Not sure of that is right. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has found any great deals. DP wants to be able to call me and obviously me call him and some of the rates are crazy!

    Thanks girls,
    Donna

Hi Crystal, I don't know yet what time our appointment is but lets try at least to have a hot chocolate together. We are staying in Newlands from tomorow night!

I will PM you when I know more.

It must be tough traveling with a teenager!!!

    good morning bubhubbers,

I'm new to this forum. I have been lurking here a little while, but didn't feel it appropriate to post until all our donors screening tests were completed. Would it be okay if I joined in with you ladies as I am booked to go to the CFC for donor eggs on August 14. My DH gave me a big surprise and booked us business class flights, so hopefully will be able to get some sleep?

We have chosen a donor who has produced two pregnancies from each of her previous donations. So hope that this is a good omen for us also?

Looks like there will be a few of us over there at the same time in August?

    Nice to meet you all

Hi everyone, I didn't want to post before now as I wanted to be sure of my results. Had the 3rd bloodtest on Saturday, only got the result this morning. BFP confirmed. OMG OMG OMG this is the first ever! In all the time we have been trying (nearly 9 years) our first positive. Levels were HCG 140 for 1st test, 350 48hrs later, and 1400 a week after 2nd test. I'm guessing only one? Had 2 5 day blastocysts transferred. Will do a longer post later. Baby dust to all.
