Also forgot to mention we had our sat nav stolen from our glovebox on day 2 so don't leave anything in your car. They can get into hire cars and you have no idea. We got into the car this morning and everything from the glovebox was on the front seat. We then realised they had stolen our day nav, well miss Leo's sat nav. Sorry hun

All the best tomorrow Araline. Hope you have good results.
Cyndi hasn't been at the clinic for the last 2 days as she has been sick.
i can recommend the Moyo restaurant at the Kirstenbosch botanic gardens. Had lunch there today, 3 course meal for R165, I struggled to get thru it all. Food was very nice.
    welcome to CT Abundance1

Oh dear Abundance! Seriously don't even worry about the GPS...it was completely useless to us with SA maps and it cost us less to buy it there than it would of to hire one for 2 weeks, it more than paid for itself. Have fun on the shark dive - wish we had of done ours in winter, visibility is apparently much better. Let us know when you get results from the clinic. X

    Hi ladies

Re the contact from CFC - I used to email Elaine as I was going to be under Dr Le Roux around 7pm at night and used to get a response pretty much straight away. Just take into account the SA time difference. I was always happy with the response times.

Hope everyone else is tracking along really well.

When we were last in Capetowon - on way back from UK there was an amazing calamari place at the foot of table mountain, a wonderful pub that did the most amazing huge plate of the stuff. I recommend going there if you can as well. I think it might have been called Protea something?

When we were looking at DE in Capetown, I dont think our FS would have helped us out only because he felt we werent there yet. If needbe we were considering going to another FS who works out of the same clinic or to the GP to get the meds.

Thinking of you strong ladies. xxx

Thanks very much to those who answered. I have an appt with my previous FS who's fairly easy-going so I'm hoping it will be OK. January, what you said worried me! I hope she's OK (Dr Jequier). I have managed to source donor embryos overseas in Barbados but will need the pill, scans and scripts here.

My GP wasn't cooperative at all. I go to a general clinic and one Dr refused to support me and didn't think I should get pregnant at all as I'm overweight. He couldn't be negative and scathing enough it seemed. A horrible experience. I went to another GP to renew my FS referral and he was happy to refer me for a mammogram but wanted an FS to do everything else.

It is just so expensive and time consuming to have to shop around various specialists. Most here have 4 month waiting lists to even get in to see and I really don't want to have to keep paying if all I get is no and then have to find someone else. I shall go armed with the legislation so it is clear if they can legally help me or not. I tried getting the nurse to ask the Dr if she'd be willing but it was getting too hard. The clinic also seemed to be OK with it. I asked the donor co-ordinator and she didn't come back and say no but I was told she'd be replying and I haven't had it yet, so not a clear Yes, either. Concept is a fairly busy clinic, I can't be the first patient who's travelled overseas.

I sympathise with those of you who are not hearing from your clinics regarding your cycles. That would drive me nuts! Cape Town certainly seems like a wonderful place! Sticky baby dust for you all.

For anyone reading that is thinking about going the DE route in SA or any other country who can't get support from their FS I can highly recommend using Donor Eggs Australia as coordinators. Having someone to deal with most of the stuff with CFC and coordinate my meds, scans, treatment etc was worth every single cent. I didn't have any of the issues with communication that some have had and I could always get an immediate answer to every question just by calling or emailing their office...even when I was in CT. It is only now that I am realising how much additional support i had with the whole process by using them.

    Hi all,

Happyheart - so pleased for you that your FS is willing and able to help you. I would have loved to have had the support of a FS on this journey.

Abundance1 - sounds like you are having a wonderfully adventurous holiday as well. Enjoy the gorgeous wine while you can. I know I will be before transfer! Hope you hear some great news soon. Bugger about the Sat Nav! I am thinking about changing one of my hotel bookings as I have just read a recent review on trip adviser that someone had all of their cash stolen from their room by a staff member who had gone through their luggage

Net - I know I went through huge frustrations trying to get assistance from my 2 previous clinics. It was very time consuming. I found emailing them was the best way to communicate. Both stated that they were not allowed to assist in pre testing for overseas donations however have known patients who have managed to get all testing done through their GP's. I asked my GP who was more than happy to assist. We did manage to get into a 3rd clinic but were advised by the donor coordinator not to mention overseas donation as the specialist would be unable legally to assist us with this. I am surprised your GP was so unhelpful! All the best I am sure you will be able to find someone to help you. None of my previous clinics were Concept so perhaps they are a little more helpful. Good luck

Missleo - hope you are feeling great. We are not planning a second trip if this fails at the moment but thanks for the recommendation "Donor Eggs Australia" I will keep this in mind just in case.

All the best to those in Cape Town at the moment

Net3811 I've always had my GP do the tests and referrals for me. This time round my GP is doing everything for me but I will check with my FS as they have a recent pelvic scan, as I have asked for copies of results from them before I dont think there will be an issue. I'm sorry that you are having such a problem with GPs.

I hope those of you in Cape Town are enjoying yourselves. I can't believe how many are travelling over the next couple of months. It is a great time as everything is much cheaper during the winter months.

AFM we have booked our flights and will be in Cape Town between 1 and 20 September. I asked about our donors proven record, it seems she has had only 1 live birth out of 4 donations this was in 2010 her last two were negative so we are mulling this over, I might just look at other donors and see if I can find anything else. I'm a little put out as Sunshine said they knew of one live birth the other donations were through another agency, sounds a bit sus to me, she is currently with Sunshine so they should be aware of the two failed cycles. Might have it out with them.

    Baby dust to all

I've just had a big read of the legislation and honestly I can't see why they can't help anyone. All the "no's" and "Offences" are related to fertilisation and import and export of donated gametes, none of which are occurring. Well in the WA legislation anyway, I don't know about other states. I had the clinic co-ordinator email me back but only to say that she can see me tomorrow when I'm at the clinic. I'll be furious if they take $200 off me just to say no, they're not going to help.

I'm having trouble with my passport too. The office of Births, Deaths and Marriages refused to verify the copy of my birth certificate as it is too old to have been printed on security paper. They've advised the passport office that i have to send it in and pay nearly $50 for another copy which will take 3 weeks or pay for an express copy for $71. I'm going to write to the Attorney General to complain that they take money for an express passport they have no way of providing as they must know that NSW will only verify birth certificates on security paper with a minimum of 3 days to obtain that.

It is honestly seeming all too hard at the moment. Has everyone had to have lining scans before they go?

January, I gather you are from WA? what did your GP do and arrange for you and who are they????

    Hi Everyone

I have been reading about your journey's for a while now and thought it was about time that I signed up and said hello. You have all been a wealth of information, tips and advice which has been very helpful to me.

I am also Cape Town bound (CFC & DR W) with an expected ET date of 22.07.13. After taking a long time to make this decision it is now all happening very quickly and its hard to believe I will be over there in a few short weeks.

Araline I am also booked at Cape Heritage, great to hear that you're enjoying it.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and best wishes x
