    Default Dr Matebese

Hi Ladies, sorry I have been out of action. Still reading every day but unable to find the time to post with a frantic work schedule. Well we are leaving for SA in 4 weeks and I can't believe it's almost here and really happening. Everything has gone so smoothly until today when we were advised Dr Wiswedel would be on leave for our cycle and we would be seeing Dr Matebese. As you can imagine I'm a little nervous about having to see a new Dr whom I know nothing about so I wondered if anyone has been to CFC with Dr Matebese and can provide me with information on her.

In terms of donors ended up going with EDSA but Nurture were amazing in giving me information etc and I would have chosen them but my donor of choice was with EDSA.

Thanks to all you lovely ladies that have posted information to help those of us heading over have an enjoyable stay.

I hope all the bubs are growing well, pregnant mums are doing well and those in planning mode are getting excited and organised. Let's hope there are more positive results coming this way soon. I think I be the next one to go over. Wish me luck

Hi Crystal, how's your accomodation hunting going?
Libelle, how long are you in CT for? Just wondering if we will cross paths.
I have checked out the garden route game lodge and they do a pickup/dropoff service from CT. Worked out the cost would be about $480, now we need to decide whether to use this or put the money towards hiring a car and driving ourselves. DH is adamant about doing a safari.

    Hi BB4Me

We'll be in CT from 2nd June to 18th. We added a buffer of a few days at the beginning after CFC told us the last couple who did an ED cycle with our chosen donor missed their flight and were not in CT at time of egg retrieval so with no sperm they had to freeze the eggs instead. I felt so sick for that couple. Could not imagine the stress it would cause and the utter desperation at the airport. That story freaked us out so we are leaving a few days early! I don't think I would survive that sort of stress!

let me know if anyone will cross over. We may not be in CT all that time as we'll have a car and will probably head to garden route.

anyone know if its possible to buy GPS maps for South Africa to load onto car navigator. We're thinking of taking our portable rather than hire one for 15 days!

Hi Libelle. It was really difficult to hire a GPS, the car hire companies only had a handful of them....and it was expensive anyway. We were there for just over 2 weeks so we just bought a Tom Tom while we were there. It was about $100 so a much cheaper option.

Abundance 1 - I was also changed from Dr W to Dr M. I too was disappointed as I have read lots of positive things about Dr W and felt confident in his care. I know very little about the replacement specialist.

I hope I have everyone listed correctly. Feel free to edit and repost updates.

    Good night all

Thanks Missleo. Were you then able to use the Tom Tom you bought in SA back here? I hope so. All these little expenses add up!

I'll be starting my Lucrin injections any day as I've just stopped taking the OCP. All starting to feel very real now and so strange to think a beautiful generous girl on the other side of the world is about to start taking injections too to give us a chance to conceive! Its really amazing. These donors are so young but must have maturity far beyond their years to be even contemplating the decisions they have made. Its truly inspiring.

Hi Abundance, when does Dr W go on leave? if you leave in 4 weeks that means you'll be there 11th June? Our egg pickup is the 12th with transfer on the 17th. We haven't been advised that he will be away while we are there...
We will be there between 5-20th

Hi Libelle. I think you probably could by purchasing a new map for Australia but I haven't looked into it...in that case you could buy a South Africa map for an existing GPS I guess. Worth a quick google search. If you have an iPad or tablet you could always just get a loçal sim and use google maps. CT isn't that big and is well sign posted everywhere, it's hard to get too lost. The only place that had me stumped was the clinic because its buried in the suburbs...I personally needed a map to get there.

I have two different doctors for my cycle as well, Dr LeRoux will see me for a few days and then Dr.Heylen is taking over for the rest of the cycle.

I was wondering about renting a GPS from the car rental place but its probably just easier to take the ipad and get a sim card for that Thanks to whomever posted that because I wouldn't have thought of that.

I'm still waiting for my meds to show up, I ordered them from the international pharmacy and they got stuck at customs because he didn't include the ingredients list etc. If anyone else uses the international pharmacy be sure to tell him to include everything customs will need
