Not sure it was my exes from before we got together so at least ten yes old! I thought it was fine until I laid down on one in a department store recently and was in comfort heaven! I'm getting a new bed asap but unfortunately I have a long list of things I need at this point so prob not for a little while yet. I want to get DS a comfortable bed too. New beds should last at least ten years I think.

Every time I go into those mattress places I lie on those Tempur mattresses and it ruins everything for me because they are so damn comfy and so so expensive. I have daydreamed about one for 10 years. DH's mattress is in our bedroom and it is about 6 years old and not uncomfortable or anything ... but I still make a b-line in Harvey Norman to those Tempurs. I don't think I'd ever get out of bed if I had one though.

It all depends on the quality of the mattress, my parents still have their mattress which they bought when they were married 35 years ago! DH and I bought ours 4 years ago and we have a merino mattress cover so the mattress is like brand new I just get the mattress cover/protector sanitised once a year. I would love a new mattress but only because its a queen and we need a king now with DD!
Sleeping comfort is very important in my opinion so its always money well spent, if you feel you need a new one go for it... dont think anyone would regret splurging on a comfy bed!

Had the same kids single (yes that's smaller than a single!!) mattress from the age of 1-25. Then bought a cheapy double bed one from Ikea that I used for about 3 yrs and left at my parents cos I moved out. Have a king mattress now, it's just over 2 yrs. I expect to have it a very long time! Was about $800 at Snooze.

I have had my mattress 6 years and have often thought about replacing the bed but not the mattress because I LOVE it, that is probably because I have layers first there is my pillow top mattress, then a memory foam on top of that and then on top of that I have a Lorraine Lea Linen pillow top mattress cover on

I paid $3000 just for my mattress alone about 8yrs ago. It's been amazing, one of those pillow top style.

Recently I've been thinking I need a new one though. I've noticed a clear body indent on both sides now, so probably need a bit more support.

Ours is 2 years old now I love it and it was quite expensive.

It's always had a mattress protector on it and I rotate it. So hopefully we won't need one for a while

No way we can afford 3000 just for a mattress, as much as id like to!

We couldnt even spend that on a whole ensemble atm

Any recs for a cheaper mattress, around $600?
