Default Party favours for a 1st birthday party

Anyone got any ideas for a good lolly bag substitute for my son's 1st birthday party? I'm not a fan of giving out cheap plastic toys and lollies!

I was thinking of making something (quite handy with a sewing machine) or perhaps buying some cute small wooden toys. The later option might be a bit pricey!!

The party is in August, so starting to plan early so I have enough time to create!!

    Any ideas would be great!!

    Thanks!!

Maybe get a set of the wooden letter blocks and put the first letter of their first name in their bags?

I think the coloring book/ crayons is a good idea. And maybe some stickers.

Something useable and disposable is my motto. The kids will love the stickers etc, then the parent can get rid of them. I hate clutter so as nice as the idea of a wooden letter is, I'd get home and throw it out. I have no use for it and unless it goes with the decor of the house, I'd say the majority if people would be the same.

I used what most have already said in DS 1st favor box - a bubble wand, sticker book , bath toy plus I put a packet of organic freeze dried apple and some banans puffs as I felt slack the little babies/kids had no food!!

Ooh if I was crafty I would make something...maybe one of those crayon rolls that they keep crayons and paper in? Or a little drawstring bag or bib if there are younger ones.
For my DD's first birthday the lolly bags had a sticker book, a small book that I found in a set of 6, box of sultanas, those mum mum rusks, a muesli bar and a small box of crayons.

Thanks!! Was thinking of making a drawstring bag or crayon roll for girls and a car roll for boys... Mmmm more to think about. I appreciate your opinions! I hate generating waste!!
