Thanks Heyside, you're not wrong, very overwhelming. I do have a cycle, but it goes for on average 40 days then a two day AF. Was never concerned about it until we decided we wanted another child, then nothing was happening so I asked the doc. He gave me a blood test which confirmed I had low progesterone and wasn't ovulating. Then an ultrasound which showed the cysts. What other hormones are looked at? I had my fasting blood glucose and insulin done at same time, borderline diabetic (pre diabetes?). I'm trying desperately to lose weight, but am finding it so hard to shift the weight. Not for lack of trying let me tell you. Does metformin help with weight loss? Doc did mention clomid, but wants me to lose weight and try metformin first. Will metformin help me conceive or is it just for the glucose? Did anyone conceive with weight loss and metformin alone? I'm pretty confused about all this, but I'm sure I'll be learning a lot soon . This forum is helpful I don't feel so alone

Heyside i hope you do ovulate today. for you.

HaonMetformin can help some people loose weight. I struggled to loose for ages and as soon a i went on it i started to loose weight and lost 15 kgs.
My dr told me Metformin can help you ovulate by conteoling your insulin levels whichis what can affect your other hormones that stop you ovulating. Unfortunately metformin didnt help me to ovulate but you never know what might work for you.
    Good luck

    Hi ladies!
I just started Metformin this week and have been advised to gradually increase from one tablet in the evening to one in the evening and one in the morning then eventually add one with lunch.
I started on Wednesday and I feel great no side effects. My doctor said to take one a day for the first 1-4 weeks, but as I feel so good I'm wondering if I should just start upping my dose now? What do you ladies think?
I also have an appointment with FS coming up to talk about Clomid (or the similar drug with a slightly different name).

Did anyone have problems with DH sperm (or as my DH calls it - baby gravy!). He had a high count and volume but low motility. They want to retest to see if they need to do anything but he is being such a diva!

I'm so glad to have others that I can talk to.

I was started on the exact same dose and gradual increase too. But I've noticed I'm getting a lot more side effects on 1000mg compared to 500! Yucky sick, nauseous. I bumped up the dose earlier too and now I really wish I didn't. I thought great I'm not getting the side effects, I thought/spoke too soon
I hope it works out better for you.

Does anyone know much about vitex? I started taking it a couple of days after I started on the metformin.

    Hi HaoN.
Thanks for the response. I guess I'm going to get the side effects regardless of when I up the dose. I also feel I need to get on with it as my appointment with the fertility specialist is in early June and a)she costs a fortune and b)is impossible to get into!

I also tried vitex and it did nothing for me. That was before metformin though. But when I told my GP (she specialises in women's health and fertility) what I was taking she told me to throw it all out.

You might be one of the lucky ones who don't get bad side effects. (positive vibes )
I wasn't sure about vitex but I figured it's worth a shot, even though I've always been a bit cynical about that sort of stuff.
good luck with your fertility specialist, and let me know how you get on with your metformin dose/side effects. I'm looking forward to the nausea wearing off. Fingers crossed it ends soon

    Thanks HaiN!
When I brought my vitex I wanted the fusion brand but they were sold out. I hear that ones the best.
Let me know how it works for you!
