I had a bigger bleed last night and this morning and ended up in St Andrews ER, my HCG on Wednesday was 39,953 and at ER it read 40,000 so not good I had a scan and one of the babies heart bet was reading 117 and you could see it in the sac but the other twin was only reading 57 heart beat and you couldn't see it as clear the doctor said it's not looking good, I'm seeing warren tomorrow but it looks like we are going to miscarry the weaker twin and tear is quite large which is causing the bleeding I'm just praying so hard we keep the stronger baby...does anyone know of miscarrying a twin but going on to having the other baby healthily...I'm so scared

KJ sorry to hear the scan was not great. I have everything crossed for you.

I just thought is pop in and tell you I had a lady in my due in group last time I was pregnant and she miscarried one twin but now still has a 14 month old son. After the miscarriage it carried on the same as a singleton pregnancy basically. So it does happen. I hope everything turns out ok for you

i know of a case where a person muscarried one baby and is still pregnant with the twin. also a lady who used to come into work had a daughter who was a twin but was lost during pregnancy. think its not so dangerous if bubs are in their own sac with own placenta. fx everything will be ok

KJ - I am so sorry to hear your news. It must be terrifying. Doesn't stop for us IVF girls! Wazza will have the best advice tomorrow, is your scan nice & early? I have everything crossed for you.

Thanks for your advice Ann - definitely going 2 this time, we thought about it last time but due to doing the genetic testing & having 70% chance we decided on 1. But def 2. I'm only 30 & know they are normal embryos so I'm worried both will stick but, like you were, we are so over the whole process & throwing everything at this cycle. I'm lucky we have 5 in freezer. Our morulas are day 5, Sometimes the biopsy slows them down a bit. But I'll be kicking myself if we go with one best quality & 1 less quality & it fails. I think I've made my decision, thanks girls!

Oh no KJ, how scary. I've been following your journey and really hoping everything stays ok. I have heard and read plenty of stories about people miscarrying one twin and the other pregnancy being perfect. Praying things look clearer in the morning and one, (pref both!) hold on.

Elarwood, sounds like you've made the decision to transfer the best 2! I don't think you'll be sorry. Throw everything at this cycle, and if 2 little bubbas stick, it will be an amazing blessing! Good luck!

Elarwood, we chose to grow out two day 3 embryos, rather than put the day5's back, partly so we had a back up plan if the day 3's didn't work and also because the day 3'a had the potential to be better quality (or good enough quality) to transfer. We had put back a poor quality one in cycle 1 because it's all we had, then a perfect one in cycle 2 and neither took. Our luck came from a FET with two average embryos. My Dr at the time said there is no right or wrong answer, it's just what we were comfortable with. For me, having some good ones still on ice eased my mind. That was a pessimistic view though! I got to that point after my last cycle. And we chose to put to back for the same reason as Ann. It increased our chances slightly of a pregnancy.

KJ- I have a friend who miscarried a twin at her 20 week scan and now has a healthy baby boy. And I know of another couple this happened to as well. It would be very sad if one of your twins didn't make it, but having it happen early has less impact on the other twin if that's any consolation. The other twin sounds nice and healthy. Let us know what Wazza says. Thinking of you KJ x

KJ - Thinking of you today Hun. I am so sorry to read about this worrying time for you. How awful. I hope Warren gives you the reassurance you both need. I have heard of quite a few women, even one who used to be on this thread, who have lost one twin in their pregnancy and gone on the have a healthy bubba. That said, you must be really worried and quite sad. Much love. Xx
