    Default Public Hospitals Melbourne

    Hello

I am brand spanking new here and reading lots about what hospital to choose etc....I do not have private medical Insurance so would be going public. I have looked at Royal Womens and Box Hill Hospital as an option.

I like the idea of the 1/1 Midwife care at the Royal Womens (Cosmos program?) and wondering if anyone has recently been referred for this?

I am seeing my GP tomorrow and wondering if I need to tell him then where I want to go and what care I want?!

Any advice would be really appreciated xxx

Went to Royal Women's and had a good experience. Not Cosmos though - I did shared care with a private midwife. Rooms are really nice - nicer than the ones I have seen at some privates!

Thanks Lincolns Mummy I can't seem to see much on here about Box hill so if anyone else can share their experience that would be great...

Thanks kw123 I like the idea of the Cosmos program at the RWs and going to ask my GP about it tomorrow.

I still can't actually believe it!!!!

Make sure you get your referral ASAP as the Women's does get booked up fast! They don't have a birth centre so Monash is another option if that's what you want.

I had all of mine at Box Hill & the only complaint I have is that the parking is atrocious! The midwives were fantastic & the level of care was brilliant. If we were to have another I'd head back no hesitations

I am based in Prahran/Windsor area. I have been looking at hosps and reading on here. Im thinking RWs, Box Hill or maybe Monash at Clayton.

RWs has some bad reviews but then I like the idea of the 1/1 Midwife program....its such a hard decision!!!

Every hospital will have some bad reviews... Nobody I know has had a bad experience there. I wouldn't ever go anywhere else.
