Default Not giving the dad a say

So every time my partner and i agree on a name he changes his mind a week later and it is starting to p*ss me off. We aren't married so i keep telling him i am just going to pick the name and he doesn't get a say haha i am only joking and wouldn't do this but has any one else actually named baby something the dad didn't like?

Berkley was our first choice then it changed to Kingsley and now he doesn't like any.. MAKE UP YOUR MIND! Is every man a pain in the a** or just mine!?

Mine is the same, try not to bring up the naming stuff to often that's what I've learnt he more you bring it up the more confused by choice he will get.

Ask him for a list of his names or If there is one name you can 'live' with as a middle name or something so he feels h has his say.

As the pp said, don't keep bringing it up...just get him to do a shortlist and think about it.

Nope, I didn't do it, and won't with any future babies either.

I suspect naming any babies we have is going to be a pain in the backside. All my suggestions are "too weird," or "too boring." I'm sure there's a middle ground in there, but I don't seem to be able to reach it in DP's opinion. lol. I think any suggestions he comes up with will be horrible... but I don't think there's actually a way I can give him no say. He has to sign the birth certificate after all...

But the thing is i actually never brought it up because we had decided that was the name then a week later he walked in to the bedroom after having a shower and said "we need to change the name i don't like it anymore" completely out of no where we hadn't discussed it since we made up our mind! Argh so annoying!

With DS we both agreed early on so no issues there. With DD that was a whole other ball game I was set on one name he was set on a different ball game. We said we'd wait til we seen her cause we'd just know. Gave birth first thing DH said was shed definitely a indyanna haha my pick for the win lol

Dh and I were set on a girl name pretty early. He switched the order of it, but its stayed the same and he made some vague comment I think of switching it back and I just said no its done its decided we're not changing again and that was that lol

If however we were having a boy I'm pretty sure we'd be fighting still about it!

I couldn't think of any names that I loved so I wrote out a list of names I liked and could live with and asked dp to cross out the ones he didn't like, circle the maybes and leave the ones he did like. It took a few weeks of doing that and narrowing the list down but now I have my name It might work for you guys?

I wrote down a list of names (after scouring a baby name book) that I would deem acceptable, and then told him to combine two and come to me when he was done.

It wasn't full of my favourite names, just names that I didn't loathe. So when he came to me with 2 together that sounded somewhat okay, I said, "Yep, that'll do," and that's how her name was chosen. I was sick of debating and at that stage we'd both realised that there was no way either of us was going to "win" our favourite name.
