I used to live in Townsville, suburb of North Ward. I loved it I didn't want to leave, there is heaps to do in Townsville especially for kids. I live in Rockhampton now and would love one day to move back to Townsville!!

I'm having an October baby too! My September baby lived in singlet and nappy. At night just a long sleeved/legged onsie but that was because we has the aircon on!

Don't know why the shops stock winter clothes... Don't bother buying them! It can get cold but it's normally night time. Day time is beautiful!!!

Default New to bubhub and I love Townsville

Hi there. I actually joined BubHub to try and respond to this growing and excellent thread.

My wife and I have moved here in late 2012 and we have absolutely loved being here ever since. We originally came from Melbourne, after giving up on the over crowded-ness and poor public transport there. We thought life is not worth wasting 2 to 3 hours a day commuting to work!

If you need to know anything about Townsville, please do not hesitate to ask. The economy here is fantastic and there are major projects being developed unlike the dire straits a lot of other regional towns and our Southern neighbors seem to be enduring now.

In terms of child care centres, I can highly recommend Amaroo Childcare near Aitkenvale / Vincent. They are absolutely fantasic, provide food and the carers are very professional and genuine.

We looked hard for a centre when we first arrived, before the money ran out and I have to say many of the more "exclusive looking" centres actually came out pretty bad in our scores. One provided too much TV and I could see some carers sitting on the floor looking frustrated and bored, struggling to smile at potential parents, whilst the kids looked like they were running a riot and no one seemed phased.

Also if you are looking at properties up here, I highly recommend a property buyers agent. We used one and she was amazing. She liased with the vendors, agency and conveyancers to get us the property we needed at the right price - down to the keys on hand after settlement. Well worth the money considering the time saved.

    All the best.

Oh no! Well I used to go to Emphasis for years who are very good but also expensive. I now just get foils (cheaper) and go to Tiki on Ackers in Hermit Park which is hopefully not where you went!! I like it there, quite relaxed and whole place has a vintage-y look.

for a beauty place, Boheme has had my business for about five years (ever since Pink Frangipani closed).

Thanks kimberlina! The one I went to was inside the shopping centre next to woolies I'm not sure what they are called.
I actually ended up booking an apt. With emphasis yesterday, do u know how much they will charge just to do regrowth?

When is your app? I have a $20 voucher you can use to reduce the cost? My mother-in-law shouted me a haircut there and the service was awesome. But I didn't have any colour done and obviously didn't pay for it so maybe that is why is was so good. Also did DD haircut and fif a really good job.
