London (can't quote?) I went to emergency this preg too and had an US down on a machine that was pretty crappy. But I know that KEMH has the best machines as they have high risk patients and patients with severe abnormalities that need a good clear view of performed by professors in the field
I work in the health industry in Brisbane as a midwife at a large public hospital. All public hospitals have an imaging department in them and if your GP refers you there, all scans are bulk billed.
As for private scan departments the further you go from Brisbane city the cheaper. For example - CBD $300, Logan/Ipswich less than $100 but normally all bulk billed
What are you waiting for woman! Although you know what the sex is! After my anatomy last week (we decided to not find out) I watched the DVD numerous times to see if I could see anything lol!!
We didnt get a clear shot of the gender at the anatomy scan anyway so nothing to see if I rewatch it anyway
Im in Melbourne and ive had to pay for ALL scans. Ive had the NT scan at 12 weeks cost $160, and two other scans that cost $175. Im booked in for my 19week NT scan in 2 weeks..... $180!!!! I wish things were bulk billed!!
To add to what 4underfour explained about Medicare rebates, the rebates on many services also havent changed in YEARS. Hence why some people may have been bulk-billed years ago, but not any more. Cos the rebate no longer covers the centre's costs.
E.g. I work in health care and the Medicare rebate on an appointment in my field has been the same for years. However in the meantime costs to the practice go up (my staff are paid more, rent is higher, heck even things like paper for the printer go up over time)
