Default Is this hand foot and mouth?

    ImageUploadedByBub Hub1364893983.727075.jpg

I have no idea what hand foot & mouth is..

This is on ds's arm. The top red bit is a scab, it's the Zit-like blisters I'm wondering about.

He had a runny nose about 2 weeks ago. Last week he had similar blisters on his butt, but not as many.
He has red flaky/dry skin in the corner of his mouth. He doesn't have anything inside his mouth.

He doesn't feel sick, he isn't itchy or anything.

He is meant to go to preschool tomorrow so no time to get a dr diagnosis before school starts.

If the consensus is that this is h,f &m, does he require medication or anything?

I've never encountered this illness before so in totally clueless.

Hand foot and mouth are usually on two of these spots either hand foot or mouth and is usually mild in one spot and a little more severe in another spot.
This doesn't look like hand foot and mouth or sound like it.

So it started as blisters or zits?
If zits id say chicken pox, if blisters id say impetigo.

    Hi

My 2yo daughter had hf&m a couple months ago. She had a bumpy rash on her bottom first that we thought was an allergic reaction. Then 24hrs later she had a rash made up of small dots on her palms and the tops of her feet. I took her to the dr at this point who looked in her mouth and it was full of ulcers. She had no other symptoms at all. There is no medicine for it but it is highly contagious by saliva. She had trouble eating for a few days because the ulcers but was otherwise not fussed by it.

Hope this helps, your child's rash doesn't look at all the same but you never know. Can you call a medcall after hours doctor to your house tonight?

I dont think it's chicken pox, he isn't itchy or upset at all.

I didn't think they were bites but maybe they are.

Hmmm ok, I will keep wondering and trying to suss it out.

He's asleep now but I'll make a judgement call on it in the morning and see if I can get in to see the dr.

    Thanks

To me it looks like impetigo.
Doesnt look like hand foot and mouth to me. I remember when my son had it, he was running temps and was not well.

    Good luck

Agree with SammiJane looks like impetigo or more commonly known as school sores. My 13month old and 3 year old had it a few weeks back, doctor said it was from itching and passing on an infection. It can be contagious and if it gets worse he will need antibiotics and/or cream.

    I'm back...

I don't know that it's impetigo either, he isn't itchy and he feels fine.

Never the less I'll see how he is tomorrow.

    Thanks
