Default Getting period while on the pill?

Hoping for some replies even though I don't expect as many on here being Easter.

I got my period and started taking the pill a few days afterward so I could time my period to arrive to time in with my cycle as I'm a country patient having to travel etc.

So I had been on the pill since 19th feb. I had intended to stop the pill on the 9th April to start ivf cycle. But my period arrived on the 27th march. It started very light brownish discharge, usually I feel and know when I am getting my period but I had none of that this time. I rang my clinic the following day who suggested its probably breakthrough bleeding and to continue pill and stop it as planned for the cycle.

Since then the bleeding has increased, it's like my normal period so I had decided to post pone the cycle as because it being my period even if I was to take the pill for another 21 days then stop the pill and await af we would be running out of holiday time and wouldn't be able to fit the cycle in. So decided to postpone cycle until early August.

I have been under a bit of stress so not sure if that's why my period came.

but today I was walking along and felt something coming out so went to the toilet and it was a massive sack like stringy clot, it was 3cms wide and 5cm long. Never experienced this before. So then I thought, is this a miscarriage. But I had a scan and blood tests re ivf early march so a pregnancy would have been detected right? When I had the ultrasound a cyst on my right ovary was noted. So could it be the cyst causing the irregular periods I had been having prior to starting the pill and the bleeding/unusual clot??

    Thoughts?

I have had clots that size before, but I have endo to blame. I would definitely call up the clinic and explain the situation. As a one off it does sound very strange. Xx

(Warning - TMI) I used to get big stringy fist-sized clots and also bled while on the Pill. For me the cause was a fibroid. But best to get these things checked, or at least talk to someone.

if it was a fibroid it would have been detected on the ultrasound I had only a few weeks ago though wouldn't it? In any case I will be calling my clinic again tomorrow and ask for another ultrasound.

...very sorry to hear that kimberleygal...

Trying not to be insensitive here, but shouldn't Hollywood have picked up on that before they started you on the pill?
