Default Is it ok to wear white to a wedding?

It's my BILs wedding in a few weeks and I have no idea what to wear. There's this one dress I like bit it's white. Is it ok to wear white? The bride will be wearing white.

No. Never. White is reserved for the bride. I am a bit old fashioned about this and I think plenty of people would still get their nose out of joint about it.

Yeah that's what I thought too just wanted to confirm. I did ask my SIL and MIL today about it and they seem to be only concerned about it getting stained during the wedding lol.

Maybe that was a polite way of saying no. Can you dye the dress

I think a plain white dress is wrong but I would be accepting of a patterned white dress or white with some other colour.

My SIL at my wedding wore a beautiful off white dress with black embroidery all over it. It was lovely and didn't bother me at all.

I even look at the photos now and don't feel like she overshadowed me - I'm still totally in love with my dress and my DH though

It's my sisters wedding in a couple of weeks and I'm wearing a cream colour dress to it. I hate looking for dresses for weddings but this was the only one I liked. Now I''m worrid it'll be bad for me to wear it!
