Default How did you write a great personal statement (for Uni application)?

I'll be applying to study midwifery next year and will have to write a personal statement. I really have no idea where to start and wondered if anyone had some tips for me?

What is your philosophy re birth? How do you relate to the women who are coming in to give birth etc.

I'm not a midwife, but that's where I would start.

Yep, birth philosophy, why you want to be a midwife, any experience/areas you are particularly interested in.

Make sure you incorporate something about your passion to provide women focused care

Also look up family centred care Midwifery is about more than just woman- Its about family as well.

Maybe join some related organisations- ACM, MC, Homebirth Australia, anything that is a maternity service organisation and talk about that in your application.

Be up to date on issues in midwifery.

Other key words for you to look up are continuity of care and carer, models of midwifery care, empowerment, informed choice, informed consent.

    Good luck
