Default Totally clueless about ipod touch

I am thinking of buying my daughter an ipod touch for her birthday coming up.

I don't want to waste money if apps won't work with no internet connection. I am mainly looking at it for long car trips that we do regularly. Do most apps for kids work without any internet connection?

Both my girls have an iPod touch, they use them without the wifi connected 90% of the time and we haven't had a problem.

Once a week I will turn the wifi on and do updates & look for new apps but other than that they use it with no Internet connected

We have a lot on the ipad that work without. Barbie, animal matching games, fed/dress a baby, doll house games etc. Some will work without, but might have the option to use the net as well eg. Playschool app, they can play on it without, or turn on the net and watch playschool episodes (my 4yr old does this herself all the time).

Most of our apps were free.

yeah my DD's ipod rarely gets connected up - only to download new apps if I feel like it

She LOVES it though. We went on holidays last year for 6 weeks and it was our saviour.

Movies, tv shows, apps/games, education, its all good.

turn off in-app purchases though - some of the kids games are pretty sneaky

I never connect the wifi on the kids ipod. I download everything via the computer and sync it that way.
There are heaps of games that work without internet access.
