    My mother has done her fair share of polling and she said the amount of ballots that have messages written across them, things like "Mickey Mouse can do a better job" is astonishing.

    730,000 informal votes at last election. That is well over 5% of total votes.

    Loads of people don't know how to vote.
    I've worked on elections!

    Just have to say that when I write election, stupid phone wants to correct to ejection and erection lol

    It really scares me how many people don't know how to vote in such a way that their vote counts.

    By all means scribble obscenities all over your ballot paper but clearly number the boxes and it's all good.

    By all means just put a number 1 on top of the line for the Senate but a lonely number 1 on the House of Reps ballot paper is invalid.

    I think it should be optional preferential.

    There are 8 candidates on my ballot paper and only 3 I would put a number next to!

    But I have to number all of them
