Yup, a friend of mine recently said she had no idea who was who or what they stood for, so she asked me who she should vote for how can people just not care? I don't get it, but worse is when they spout all the "Julia is a witch" stuff but you talk to them for less than a minute before you realise they haven't got a clue about politics.

It is just so clear, can't understand why more people don't see it. Aussies have really short memories as far as politics goes, Rudd was so unpopular when he was toppled. Personally I think Rudd did a good job, I think Julia has too, although she has never stood a chance. At the end of the day, most Australians vote like they are voting in a popularity contest. How depressing.
I do agree. I don't think she's been terrible - but not great. But she can't win the election. Thus why I hoped she'd stand down.

I really don't think she has been bad .. I think it is politics at the moment that are so horrible and all over the place .. I think media are having fun making her look like the bad guy .. She really is quite a good person ( I know people who have dealt with her a lot ) . Labour won't get in .. Not because of her though ... Very sad that tony will most likely be pm. But it will fun for a bit watching him mess up !!

And then we will all have to put up with the whinging/whining and *****ing of the people who actually voted him in when he starts. Just like what is happening in QLD. When will people learn!?

I wish there was a box we could tick on the ballot paper that indicates no confidence in either party. Or we as a country can vote for party leaders.

I wish we had a voluntary voting system - then only people who have a clue will vote.

I'm not sure exactly how to take this.

But in answer to that, I believe everyone should have a say in who runs their country, whether they(the voter) are knowledgeable in the subject or not.

Then we would turn out like America, where mostly the it is the privileged that vote, and the poorer people don't because they don't feel like they have a voice. It would be a tragedy.

I was thinking about it the other day, how bout 1 vote = 1 vote, rather than the seats system we have in place. If we had one vote = one vote, the libs would never get in again
