Default Which men's dress watch for my dh?

I am wanting to buy my dh a dress watch for our second wedding anniversary. I am looking for a watch probably no more than $500. Does anyone have a favourite brand they would recommend? At the moment I'm looking at seikos, not sure what other brands to go for.

    TIA

DH loves seiko. For his 30th we got him one of the new 5 series with the glass back. It's very nice. I'd aim to get an automatic or solar movement.
DH also loves citizen Eco drives.

Both great brand watches and within your price.

My DH also has Seiko - wears it everywhere too. Looks good, hasn't had a problem with it. Probably 5 year old so far. Dad also has one ever since I can remember and it's still going.

Tissot are a great brand but for under $500 you may find it hard to get anything other then an quartz movement. Which is considered a pretty cheap movement. You really want automatic or solar. If you can get a nice Tissot with either movement then that would be great. I still think Seiko is your best bet. But just have a look at what watch you like the look of first.

With a lot of the swish watches you really are only paying for the brand unless you can spend a lot more. As their cheaper watchers are just that. Still great watches don't get me wrong but for the same price you can get a Japanese watch with advance parts and movement.

My DH has lots of watches including a couple of Seiko and Tissot automatics. The Omega Speedmater in the above photo is what I bought him for his 30th.

He says for $500 you should be looking for either a Japanese or Swiss automatic movement, quartz watches are good and reliable, but autos are a bit fancier.

His suggestion is a Hamilton Jazzmaster auto. There are a few on ebay new for less than $500.
His most recent watch is a Techne Sparrowhawk 2 (quartz chronograph) that he bought for about $300. It's not really a dress watch though, it's more of an aviator style but he likes it.
