    Default Tight chest when eating

My 15 year old DD has had chest pain and tightness whenever she eats certain foods.
It been happening for well over a year but it has gotten worse and worse recently and she nows stops eating to gasp.

I think it is startchy foods that does it because it happens when she eats rice, pasta, bread and cakes/biscuits/donuts etc

Does anyone know if chest tighteness (which only lasts minutes) is a common symtom of food allergy?

Hi Mummy cloud have you taken DD to a doctor to get her checked out?. The food you are talking about sounds like coeliac disease but symptome are not typical of it. At least not me any way and I didnt find out till I was 17 years old.

Gasping sounds more like athsma unless her mouth is swelling up making it hard for her to breathe as would for anaphylactic shock and that can be caused by some food allergies like peanuts.

Best to take her to Dr and get her checked out

    Hope this helps

    Default a thought

A lot of the foods you describe: bread, doughnuts etc. often contain a preservative known as calcium propionate (282). This particular preservative has been linked to asthma and other breathing ailments.

    check out : www.fedupwithfoodadditives.com.au

and also see a GP with a bit of understanding about this additive. Lot's of medical people are sceptical. You can make up your own mind.

    Good Luck

I've had a similar thing with these type of foods and for me it's actually a form of reflux.
Just a thought for you to check but definitely she should see a doc
