    You should have been given a temporary Medicare card (in the form of a piece of paper) with the Medicare number on it when you applied...

    Why are all my DDs appointments free? They told me it was free until she was 16.....

    It depends where you go. If you are going to a private practice you can expect to be charged the full price of a consultation (sometimes up to $80) and Medicare will reimburse you for the rebate amount only. If you are going to a bulk billing clinic Medicare can reimburse you for the whole amount of the consult. But as a previous poster said just phone up for your number.     So does bub get a completely new Medicare number? They aren't just included on your card with their own reference number attached?

    There is no rule saying children under 16 are free. Its up to the clinic to decide what they charge. Our clinic charges full price for children.
