    Default centerlink three kids??

    Hi

I'm hoping for no judgement here! My partner and I each have a child of our own - we are a blended family. We would like to have a child together. I am on carers payment as our children have medical issues and he is on austudy studying his butt off trying to get us ahead in life.

We would like to have a child now whilst he is still studying due to fertility issues on my part, if we wait until he is finished studying I will be older and less likely to conceive. I know that sounds terrible and selfish to rely on centerlink but we also don't want to miss out on having a third child and ultimately we will be able to support the child once he has finished his studies.

So my question is... what happens to your payments when you have a third child, did your payment rise much? we can get by on what we currently receive but I'm concerned having a third child may actually lower our payments somehow?

I've been thinking of calling and asking but don't trust what they say as we have called them before and been given wrong info many times.

Hi I would go online and use the estimator. Just make up a date for a 3rd child's birthday. It will then calculate how much you will be entitled to. Also I think in your case where your fertility may be an issue, I don't see why you shouldn't do it. Your DH is studying and will end up with a good job so by the time Bub would be in school (and costing more) you won't be relying on centrelink. Good Luck

As I understand it, since you are not working, you are not eligible for Paid Parental Leave, but will still be able to get Baby Bonus.

Also, you will receive Family Tax Benefit (including large family supplement) for the third child.

Baby Bonus is listed as a first payment of $846.20, followed by 12 fortnightly payments of $346.15.

Family Tax Benefit part A for a child under 13yo is a maximum of $169.68 per fortnight, plus a large family supplement of $11.76 for the third child.

If your youngest child is currently over 5yo, then you would currently only be receiving $100.66 per fortnight for Family Tax Benefit part B, and that will increase to $144.34 per fortnight when you have a child under 5yo.

Maybe try it with your current situation and see if it comes up with your current figure ( just to double check)
