I found out at our 12 week scan & when gender was checked again at 20 weeks - we found they were accurate!

Can someone explain this for me? (Perhaps using a scan photo to show what exactly you are looking at)

I never even thought to ask at first trimester screening! LOL

Hi Falkor I am not sure how to draw the lines on a scan but if you google 'nub theory' it will explain.

Basically at this scan the baby does not have genetalia but has a nub. If the nub is pointing up when comparing to the line of the spine it is a boy. If it is parallel to the spine then it's a girl.

Can be hard as some nubs just don't look parallel or rising like my one. Also if the baby is curled up the line if the spine can be off.

    Thanks Meld85.

I googled and looked at all the pictures and compared them to my scan pics and really can't tell to be honest! I don't think my picture is conclusive...

    Anyone want to guess?

Hi Falkor - i am inclined to say boy if I am looking at the nub but not 100%.

LOL so hedging bets both ways here so far!

The more I look at it, the more confused I get!

Hi Falkor - I am looking at that mushroom looking thing on the end pointing straight up.

It's a bit thicket than I have seen so maybe a bit blurry or may not be the nub...
