    Unhappy Needing Positive Stories

Just went in this morning for an embryo transfer and was told that they all stopped growing at day 3 and there was nothing to transfer.

After 7 fresh cycles without a BFP I am completely devastated. We usually get one or two growing to blast stage albeit not great quality blasts but still with a chance of success.
I am wondering should I go to day 3 transfers maybe our embies would do better that way? This time we had 2 perfect Grade A 7 cell embies at day 3 and 3 others that were behind and it was looking hopeful for a 5 day transfer and then nothing - it just doesn't make sense.
How many fresh cycles did you do before you got your BFP? Need some encouragement to keep going. Not ready for egg donation yet.
    Thanks...

I only made it to one transfer and had success from a grade 3 6 cell 2 day embryo! Currently 22wks.
You should def consider transferring earlier - my quality was average and took.

Hi Vetttc - that's so disappointing
I know how heart breaking these kind of set backs can be! Just wanted to wish you better luck in the future. It took us lots of cycles (see sig) even though we had excellent quality embies - sometimes it's just (bad) luck of the draw
I'm lucky to be holding my beautiful baby boy now Please don't give up x

Hi vetttc. We did ivf for 2.5 years, back to back cycles, 11 in total, all fresh bar 2 as I would struggle to get eggs/implantation etc. we were close to giving up then I became pregnant with my DD. we started back doing ivf when she was 6 months old did 3 cycles then gave it up/ran out of money. Then a few months late at the age of 41 low and behold I became pregnant naturally with my DS.

I guess what I am saying is you never know what is around the corner . We went from thinking I would be childless to having 2 babies in 2 years and now having a beautiful family.

I'm so grateful we didn't give up. I was on 600 gonal, 75 luveris, all manor of drugs. I would barely get any follicles, my last ovarian reserve test was less than one and we had many cycles where we didnt get to transfer. but now we have two gorgeous children.

Vettc I'm so sorry ur still on the IVF wagon!! Over 7 fresh cycles we collected 64 eggs and out of that only had 4 embies to transfer (2x day 2 and 2x day 5 morulas - they matured 12 late in the labs after EPU). One stuck and I am now 28 weeks PG.

Our last cycle was to be our last with my eggs as they were just bad- for no reason. We had our donor paper work and a friend all ready to go. I truly believe the thing that got my shi**y eggs over the line was Saizen.

So please don't give up on ur eggs just yet, there are other drugs you can try!

All the best for ur future!!

vetttc I'm so disappointed for you. I have been down that road too where it looks like you have some great embryo's and then on day 5 you are told none made it. I remember the day that happened as clear as bell, it was horrible. I'm so sorry you have had to go through this.

I did want to say not to pay too much attention to the grading of the embryo's. A couple of mine were graded as A+ but when I changed clinics it was explained that they can't really tell much by looking at the embryo's. An embryo may appear perfect but not take and one that seems not so perfect may take. Has your FS discussed CGH testing with you, it might shed some more light on what is happening chromosomally.
I have also read that DHEA has helped some ladies.
I have everything crossed for you that you get your BFP soon.
    xx

Vettc- the same thing happened to me last cycle...at day 3 I had two "excellent looking embryos" and a few which were lagging behind a little, by day 5 I had none as all had degraded. It's heartbreaking to go through that whole process and not even have a transfer... My FS has suggested that from now on we transfer 2 day 3 embies

good luck, I hope it's your turn soon
