Default Reccomend me a decent Bicycle for using toddler seat/trailer

Hi my DP and I really want to get a bicycle each, just a mountain bike for daily riding with the kids. Ideally one will be used with either a toddler seat or trailer. I don't want to spend a fortune and would love to know what others ride with the pros and cons. Any help would be great.

    Thanks for reading

Dh and I got Giant bikes , I have the ladies mountain bike and he has the gents normal bicycle ,they both have seat suspension and front fork suspension and fit the bike seat and the trailer. We have had them for about 5 years and they are good bikes, I got them secondhand as they are around $500 each new and I prefer the old style of frame. I didn't go full suspension as I don't think they can take the attachments so check about that and if your going to take them on a bike rack on a car then check the frame is suitable for the rack as a lot don't fit.

Thanks Lulu, I've been looking at the Giant ones and they are around the $500 mark, Im keen to buy second hand as it will be expensive. Can I ask how much you paid second hand for yours?

I think I payed about $120 for the 2 bikes I remember it was a bargain as they were near new. I also got the pacific bike trailer for $150 s/h and the child seat cheap too and I still use the trailer weekly for school runs and it is still in good condition. I got them all off www.gumtree.com.au.

I have the Sedona women's mountain bike which is for off and on road and it's a nice comfortable bike to ride and I think they have more comfortable handles as the boulder has the straight handle bars made more for off road use.

I have a Giant Rincon which has a bike seat fitted. Giants are great!

You should bear in mind that bikes with disc brakes aren't compatible with all seats and trailers, so check this when you buy a seat.
