Default Issues moving from potty to toilet??

My DS age 3 has been doing great on the potty for the past few months taking himself but he is too big for potty now having issues with overflow etc (he is a big boy) so we started trying to get him to use the big toilet we got a little seat for the toilet (one of those red blue and yellow ones with steps and handles) but he HATES it!! He just screams and screams while sitting there and has gone back to wetting his pants!
    Any ideas?

Buy one of those little seats that sit on top of the normal toilet seat. It's basically just a mini toilet seat and is padded. We have one for my 2 year old and never bothered with a Potty. I have a little step stool for her to step up onto though.

Eta: Is the screaming because he hates his new seat and wants to be on the potty instead, or is it because he's afraid of the toilet?
Are you getting stressed when he's reverting back to weeing in his pants? Kids are so perceptive and if he thinks you're remotely angry or annoyed at his regression, he may well be upset because he thinks he is going to make you angry. I'm not saying you are, but this could be the reason why he's acting up on the toilet.

I find it really doesn't take much for them to regress unfortunately, so any little bit of stress from either you or he can upset all the work that was previously done. It does sound as though he is ready, as you have said that he was taking himself to the potty etc for months, so perhaps you could put his potty in the toilet for a little while and slowly build up to the toilet seat I mentioned earlier.
Lot's of praise and big deals made for any effort and maybe even try a reward chart for everytime he attempts to go on the toilet. I would really be accentuating the positives if you don't already. Good luck!

Has he watched you or his dad use the toilet? My DD watched us and we called her a big girl for using the "big" toilet. She loves it and that's how we got her to use the big toilet as she saw us using it and knew it was nothing to be scared of.

He is screaming cause he flat out hates the big toilet regardless of any type seat we have tried. And no I am not getting stressed with him weeing his pants I don't make a deal out of it at all

How about a star chart/ bribe for using the toilet? We started with a lucky duo bag of presents from the $2 shop when DD started toilet training, and then moved to smarties before phasing it out. Might work for you?

Please don't think I was accusing you of anything untoward. I thought I worded the post sensitively enough for it not to be read in an accusing manner, so apologies if it came across that way as it certainly wasn't my intention. I was asking questions to try and guage some specifics so I could try and offer some tips or help as you asked for.
