    Default Polishing hardwood/timber floors

    Inside flooring.
Did you use water base or oil polish?
How long were you out of the house for?
If in melbourne can you recommend someone?
    Thanks!

We used a two pac polyurethane. We did it ourselves but got the stuff from connoly's in gaffney street, coburg. They gave us a lot of info too about doing it ourselves.

We used a high gloss polyurethane (oil-based) finish on our hardwood floors, of all the finishes it's the toughest and hardest wearing. With a toddler and inside dog it has stood up pretty well. The high-use areas such as kitchen are a bit scratched up, but that's unavoidable. We were out of the house for about 4 days (took him 2 days to complete it plus a couple of days for it to cure). I'm not in Melb so can't recommend anyone sorry.

two pac is the way to go because it contains a hardener which will protect and give lasting shine. I had my floors done 10 years ago and they still look pretty damn good. You well need to be it of the house for a few days but it will be worth it.

I was just told you can get two pac oil and water base. I need to research the pros and cons of both.
