Default 12 week scan done between 12 weeks & 13 weeks 3 days?

Does anyone know if the 12 week scan HAS to be done exactly between 12 weeks & 13 weeks 3 days? If you are a few days out does it matter or will that mean the test won't be as accurate? What if you aren't exactly sure of your dates due to a longer cycle (5 weeks)?

Would it be recommended to have a dating scan earlier on in this case?

Also is 12 weeks taken from the first day of ur last period?

Sorry if these questions sound silly. I didn't realise the scans had to be done between such exact dates. Any help you can give would be appreciated

A dating scan would help determine your due date. Your date of last period is relevant if you ovulate on day 14 of your cycle. My due date was calculated based on my ovulation date, because my cycles were short and I ovulated early. My obstetrician booked mine in for 12 weeks. She wouldn't let me make it any earlier.

The scan place will tell you what their cut off is, I had mine done at 13weeks. I don't think a few days difference will matter too much, but ask your dr or the scanning place =) I did have a dating scan early on because my cycles were very irregular.
