Default Kids drink bottles (for water).

I'm just wondering how often do you replace your kids drink bottles.....not the milk ones, but the general ones for water (smash brand etc)
DS has about 6 drink bottles that we rotate (his school drink bottles are separate). I was washing one up tonight and by chance I caught one in the sunshine, and it had scum on the inside at the bottom
I always use those bottle cleaner things, but it looks like this one didn't get scrubbed properly.
But in saying that, do these drink bottles have a life span or use by date?
I only buy the Smash brand, but sad that I've had to throw it away

I've noticed similar things but just chuck them in the bin if I find yuk on the inside because I can't clean inside it properly. Target sell metal ones (licenced) that you can clean properly inside.
