    Default Have you used mediation?

And if so, was it of benefit?

ExDP and I don't see eye to eye. He doesn't have a carseat or anything else and expects me to provide everything for him?! I am considering this as my next option because he is impossible to speak to.

It was of benefit but mainly because it gave me new eyes to see what an awful man he was and it gave me a heads up that I would need to toughen up for the long long battle ahead. We are currently in court. Good luck. Sounds like you have a battle on your hands.

Definitely worth a try. If u can't see eye to eye it could be beneficial. For example he would probably be told that he should have a car seat of his own. It is just one of those things most parents have for their children, it's common sense to get one if u expect the child to travel in your car.

Our mediator didn't tell us anything like each have our own carseats etc. BUT she did make it so that we were able to work stuff out - we were both pretty calm about the whole thing though It made me realise just how much I dislike the man and I wanted to jump the table and slap him.

We just transfer the car seat over ATM though I plan to raise this again when we meet again in mediation because when DS turns four I think it's fair enough to ask that XH gets his own seat.

Mediation was also helpful in getting him to agree to provide clothes for the kids when they were at his house rather than expecting me to send a bag each fortnight.

So yes, it can be very helpful though your ex can refuse to attend.

Mediation was helpful for us to a degree, but we found the parenting plan doesn't cover changes in each others work etc so really it comes down to us to sort out. The biggest benefit is that our special occasions are sorted!
