    Default Am I being unreasonable?

I thought I'd start a new thread where we could ask if we're being unreasonable in a particular situation.

My situation #1: DH works less hours than I do at the moment as he is on call for shift work. Am I being unreasonable to expect that if he doesn't get a call for the day, that he puts away the dishes, or puts on a load of washing or cooks dinner? Am I being unreasonable?

My Situation #2: DH eats noisily & with his mouth wide open. I've been asking him for the last 18 months to please eat quietly with his mouth closed. I admit that the 'please' part can be missing in my requests lately as I'm very frustrated by it! Am I being unreasonable?

I would say no. Especially on the first situation I get frustrated with my dh for not helping out round the house especially when I am working more hours than him!!

As for the eating thing, drives me mental too but I think some people are just loud eaters they can't control it

You're not being unreasonable with the first request.

The 2nd, while I understand how annoying it is (the men in my family are noisy mouth-breathers while they eat... it's HORRIBLE!), I think that's one battle you're never going to win and you'll do better to just cope with it than make an issue of it.

Thanks Ladies, I didn't think I was being unreasonable but sometimes I get so annoyed that I forget why I was annoyed in the first place. Does anyone have any idea how to get DH to see my point of view on these?

That definitely sounds like a plan Sassy, I suppose I could make a conscious effort to try not to get mad when he eats so loud & with his mouth open. It just grosses me out!

    Show him this thread.

I'm a little incredulous that you could even wonder if this is unreasonable, especially number 1. Would it be unreasonable for him to ask the same of you if you were not working for the day?

The smacking of lips whilst eating probably annoys me just as much as having to see someone chew their food- eewwww!
