thanks all....we know the bottle has to go! in hindsight i think she was irritated by the smoke the other week and was still chesty...she is becoming very strong willed which means she will NOT quit ....me and dh joke that she sounds like a dying tiger when she screams at night ..i agree BK i think we will have to do as you did and just be super strict..i did notice the last time she carried on at night even after a bottle that we let her cry for a while and then finally i went back in and held her for about 3 minutes telling her she needs to go to sleep and after another one minute of crying after i left she fell asleep...i guess we have been inconsistent a bit as well ..some night taking her into our bed (out of desperation) , other night not etc....

kismet: hope u get poor evie sorted out..i know at around 3 its more common for kids to start to get anxious arpund ebdtime etc H still has the occasional night where he wants us to sleep on the futon til he falls asleep cos he is scared of some monster etc and rather than not do it we just do it now altho luckliy he doesnt wake during the night etc
...honestly i feel the pain about the house situation...i can not sit down ALL day sometimes and still it looks like ive barely done a thing...its disheartening to say the least....occasionally when its overwhelming i take our clothes to the laundormat to get them washed and dried...a cleaner would be great but its almost futile as the one problem we have is $hit everyewhere which is EXACTLY what u have to "clean" up before the cleaner get there ffs so pointless virtually IMO.

MG: wow 4 yo..i know time flies....hope u guys have a fab day. i was sick all of winter....like would have a week off then be sick for another 3 weeks..honestly it makes u value being healthy. hope u feel better soon.

nothing new here...still half looking for a new job but always never apply cos i just cant ring myself to have to start a NEW job..even tho im bored its a job i can do with my eyes closed, the pay is good and its part time...i just couldnt imagine having to be in a new job on 3 hours sleep sometimes .....and my AF is MIA....i did a HPT but that was -ve (and i must admit i was relieved) but now im worried im menopausal ffs..i mean when i was 36 my amh was only 4 so its prob minus 10 by now.....i did have really bad pain around ovulation so im wondering if the endo is outta control ffs......

    Hiya,

Kismet - I'm so sorry you have these challenges with Evie. It's true that most children respond really well to early therapy and it will just be another childhood story to tell in a few years. But you don't need the pressure and I really hope things turn around soon.

JFB - Stella is 14mths and has good nights and not so good nights depending on her health. Mostly, she sleeps through now but everytime I say that, she wakes up in the middle of the night for no particular reason I just change her (she is still in the brace 14hrs a day (overnight too) and give her a small feed (BF) and she goes straight back to sleep. When she's sick, it all turns to crap as it did when she had a cold a week ago. But last night was good, so we get past it. Good luck. Your job sounds perfect (if dull) for you now. There is nothing worse than a bad boss with 2 kids to look after. In 12mths time you might feel a little more confident about taking another leap.

MG - Hope you are feeling better. Lots of bugs going around down south too. It seems to be the season for it.

'Hi' To everyone else. Stella is starting to walk, and is taking full advantage of the new skills! It keeps me busy and gives me a giggle at the same time (sometimes I groan when she manages to reach a new surface though).

It's finally sunny in Melbourne today. Just in time for the Melbourne Cup. Good luck if you are having a bet

Moon - Happy birthday to Spencer , they certainly grow up quickly.

Millie - wow Stella is beginning to walk, that's fantastic! Evie didn't get there until 17 months.

JFB - it is pretty hard to be consistant when you've just got to do what you have to do to get a good night sleep once in a while. I give in to keep the peace sometimes.

Well Evie's illness got far worse and turned into gastro and went for 5 days. It was horrendous, I was sooo worried about her I couldn't get anything into her to help her and she was living on water and a few nibbles of dry biscuits and toast every now and then but it just went thru her undigested, she wouldn't have a bar of gastrolight or anything else suggested to help her, so sick. Saw a doc initially for fever & earache on Thurs, and went back on Fri because of the gastro and they weren't concerned at that point but said if continued more than 48 hrs to see someone, she seemed a little better Saturday a.m. but crashed again later on & just got worse, rang GP access to book appointment at hosy but they said continue what I was doing only go to hosy if she's unresponsive, (WTF! why let it get that far, I was trying hard to not get it to that point), said not a good idea to give her medication to stop it. She didn't improve so out of my mind on Sunday got into after hrs dr who gave her medication straight away & said if that didn't work have to go to hosy. Finally started to pick up a bit yesterday and she's much better today, more herself but still recovering, has lost weight which she couldn't afford to do, somehow have to try and fatten her up now. Poor baby was like a leech stuck to me all the time, I'm frazzled. Thankfully I didn't get it off her, don't know how as I wore spew and cr@p, I wouldn't have coped with both of us that sick. Never want to deal with that again

Oh Kismet that sounds truly awful. What terrible advice the hospital gave you. My friends boy had bad gastro and was told to take him to emergency if had still wasn't keeping anything down after 48 hours. Thank god you didn't get it. I had gastro at the sine time as Ruby a month or so ago and DH had just started working a late shift. It was truly horrible!

Kismet - Poor you and Evie! I had gastro 2 weeks ago but fortunately Stella didn't get it. I can't believe how long Evie had it! The medics were clearly idiots and should have encouraged you to get her in to be assessed, medicated and hydrated. Like you, I find it hardest being a single mum when we are sick. You are due a huge spell of good luck! It's been a very hard year for you, so I'm wishing you some lovely events before the year is up

Would you believe she is now constipated today and tried to $hit a brick! poor kid can't get a break, finally got a breakthrough tonight, hoping she's alot happier tomorrow.
BK, I won't be trying to get advice again without someone seeing her, how the hell can someone assess the situation over the phone, gp access sucks balls.

Poor thing she must have lost too much fluid. Heaps of juice. My friend was also told that flat lemonade and soda water would get them through til they can eat again. Lemonade for the sugar and some important minerals in the mineral water.

BK & Moon - Tried all of them but Evie never drinks cordial or juice & doesn't like iceblocks (yes I think she's the only kid that doesn't like them) and I couldn't get them near her, even dried using a syringe, ended up everywhere but in her mouth. She's ok now and back to herself. We are off to a Hi-5 concert tomorrow, that should cheer her up. Has everyone got xmas shopping done yet? I've barely started and clueless as to what to get.

kismet, glad she is better..h wouldnt touch hydralite..i tried to syringe it in once and he puked! h is sorted pretty much..he is getting his big boy bed with Cars quilt cover etc ...still is obsessed with Cars so ive resorted to getting off ebay the few remaining ones he doesnt have and putting these in a big Cars truck ...also into spiderman and iron man so a few action figures this year as well. E is getting a rocking horse, some wooden dolls furniture, a talking peppa pig ....maybe a baby born too...both getting books.....unfortunately they both love the new wiggles so i might be forced into a buying a DVD...as usual bought a bit more than i planned but some of the gifts above will be from relo's..i just wanted to avoid too much "plastic" this year was my issue.
