Default Options for 3.5 year old in SA?

I just need some help sorting out the options for my DS for starting kindergarten - he's 2.5 yo now but I'd like to get a handle on things before our new bub arrives, if anyone in Adelaide can help.

His birthday is in August so he won't start kindy until he is 4.5 yo. But he is a fairly introverted child and takes a long time to get used to new situations, so I'd like to put him in a program that can start perhaps the year before (not just transition visits). Is there such a thing as 3 year old kindy in Adelaide? What is the difference between kindy and preschool? I'm not really keen on a private school Early Learning Centre as we'll probably send him to public school. Childcare with an early learning program seems REALLY expensive too.

    Any advice?
    TIA

Sorry I can't help more but I'm wondering have you checked out the Montessori sector? From memory they offer something like that, although not full time. I'll have to go digging and get back to you...

Edit: Adelaide Montessori is one that offers from 2 to school age. It is private and seems expensive but I think they have very good childcare rebates.

Sorry, if you don't want to pay for an ELC or something of the sort, there is nothing available for three year olds in SA.
Some Elc's in SA are also registered CCC so you can claim back the CCR and CCB. our twins go to an ELC that is $88 per day, going down to $44 per day after CCR.

Thanks for your replies. We'll have a look into those options. I didn't think of Montessori before so thanks again.
