I think the saying is 'religion is like a penis. It's okay to have one, but not okay to shove in people's faces' or something to that effect.

I'm not quite sure either. I think 'passionate people shut up'.

I don't think nurse in's help at all. You have one woman being kicked out because the owner doesn't like breast feeding.. Instead of education this person you are getting a heap of people together to shove breast feeding in their face. I think the message is lost.

They certainly won't be asking anybody who is breastfeeding to leave again. Lol. If the mother "quietly left" their breaking of legislation would likely continue.

It's disappointing to see so much apathy over this issue. The point of the nurse in was not to shove anything in anyone's face. It was just a quiet demonstration to show that breastfeeding is a normal part of life.
In this case, the woman was told her bf'ing was "offensive to humanity" and "disgusting" and the point of the nurse in was NOT to change her opinion, though that would be nice, it was to let her see and understand that by vilifying this mother, she actually broke the law at state and federal levels.

Fwiw I doubt they made any money while we were there. They said all proceeds from us would go to breast cancer research but I don't think anyone believed them. They also handed out bottled water for free and I didn't see any customers once things were under way, so I guess the nurse in would have hurt them financially.

    Hahaha!

I agree with the message behind nurse ins and I think they are great! The very first steps for womens/racial/gay rights were taken following the same kind of protests.

HOWEVER I do agree that it is not the only, or perhaps the most effective thing that can be done at every instance. As some have mentioned it will also come to a point were the attitudes you're fighting against will just roll their eyes at you and start shouting 'penis down my throat'

I think legal action or bringing media in in a different way might work? Maybe try to set up an interview for the cafe to name shame and questiom their actions for all to see. Something they cant just roll their eyes at anymore, enforce fines etc.

Protest is great. But without enforcing consequences once laws are in place they will begin to seem just 'annoying' to those who are against them.
