Default Can anyone recommend a good FS in Sydney CBD?

Hi all! I'm new to bubhub and have read but never posted on this (or any!) forum before.

Recently found out that my husband and i have a very low chance of conceiving naturally after trying for 18months. Our next step is to visit a fertility clinic and find out what our options are. I was referred to Dr Alison Gee, but unfortunately she was booked up until May, and after waiting so long, i dont really want to wait another few months!! Or is that standard??

So, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good fertiltiy specialist in Sydney CBD (or should i hang out for Dr Gee?). I dont know anyone who's been through ivf so your help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hallygirl

P.S. Maybe send a PM if not allowed to post publicly?

    Hi Hallygal,
Welcome! Unfortunately it's not unusual to wait a couple of months to get into a highly sought after FS. Have heard good things about Alison Gee, however we went with Devora Leiberman at Genea and absolutely loved her (she was our 3rd FS). Pays to shop around for someone you click with and is progressive in their approach. Good luck with your decision.

We didn't shop around to be honest we just went with my GPs refer all to Genea, dr Dezaurnaulds. Found her very nice and straight to the point and honest.liked her from the first visit. We were lucky we only had a two week wait to see her.Her office is at Glebe though. Was out of the way for us but highly worth it.

I have Devora and got BFP in fresh transfer from first stim cycle (so very first go) and have a 1yo DS. Am currently 6 weeks pregnant with our second child which was our first frozen transfer from that same stim cycle. So basically 2 pregnancies from 2 tries so you can't do better than that!!

It did take us a couple if months to get in and then the FS will do a heap more tests (even though your GP would have also done lots), some of which need to be done at certain times in your cycle - so the whole process does take a long time to actually get started (took us 5-6 mths total). Patience is important so you will have to be prepared for that.

One of my best friends is currently 38 weeks pregnant through Alison Gee and is very happy with her.

I think it is best to pick someone you like rather than someone you can get in to see quickly. It is a long and expensive journey so you need to be happy with the people you take with you on that journey. Good luck.

I can recommend Dr Geoffrey Reid at Genea. He is my 2nd FS & I find him very open minded to try new things and keep digging for answers after a failed cycle.
