Question Mary Kay? Anyone done this? Comments sought.

    Good morning everyone

I have a question for any of you who have actually conducted business through Mary Kay Cosmetics.

What has been your experience with them? Good? Bad? Neither?

I've been researching them with a view to possibly taking on a position and am between a rock and a hard place at the moment regarding which way to go so your opinions would be very valued.

    Thanks heaps.

I did Mary Kay for a while many moons ago. I did like their online consultant ordering system.
I was frustrated with having to go to the regular meetings that my sales leader ran, they didn't actually do anything other than test out makeup on each other and say the same things over and over about boosting sales.

I felt rather micro-managed. That being said, if you said to the person that signed you up that you were NOT interested in going to regular meetings and that you would come as needed for new product release information etc. I'm sure you'd be fine. You'd just have to make it clear from the start that you will run your business the way that you want to, and that any pushing on their behalf will just end with you dropping the business.
They usually back off pretty quickly when you do that *chuckle*.

But basically when they sign you up most people are likely to be encouraging (Read: pushy) because the more sales you make the more money THEY make. I did find that they also recommended using family and friends to get parties which I didn't like. My family are pretty party planning friendly so we regularly have 4-5 consultants do parties for us from different companies and they know that we'll contact them when we're ready for a party.
They end up making a lot of money through us because we don't feel bugged and they aren't relatives etc.

All in all I found them ok to use out of the party planning groups I've 'worked' for.
