    Default washing quilt before use

I don't wash quilts, I'm not sure if its gross or not but I'm scared of ruining them. I just hang it on the clothes line in the sun for a day every month or so to air out when I wash the quilt cover. I've also given it a spray with Glen 20 before after hubby or I have been unwell, the smell of the Glen 20 disappears when it's hanging in the sun.

I wash all my new linen including quilts. I can't stand the starch they use to have it look all prsitine in the packaging, so a good wash gets it softer and with less chemicals on it.

I'm fortunate in that my washing machine has a 'duvet' wash setting, but when I didn't have one with my former washing machine I just set it on the heavy duty load setting.

    Default washing quilt before use

I don't wash quilts but at the start of summer and winter I have them professionally cleaned when I'm changing quilts.
