I think I've posted this before, but I thought it was now general knowledge that it is pointless to throw out mussels if they don't open, the whole thing is a myth.

But it seems many people haven't heard the good news yet!

A woman asked on another forum the other day if her lochia was coming from the same place that her period comes from. Very sad.

I think it leads to a lot of confusion

When DD was born I was chatting to the paediatrician in hospital about how to clean her (after three boys she was a complete mystery!). The paed said not to go overboard but that she had seen girls at the 6 week check up with built-up poo and to not go that far either.

In retrospect, I bet a lot of those mums had been told not to clean the vagina. And of course we should never clean the vagina! But we do need to clean other areas of the vulva, and I wonder how much misunderstanding is a result of these terms being used interchangeably when they shouldn't be.

Ooh, I've got one! Long service leave is unique to Australia and New Zealand, and harks back to our colonial history. Back in the day, people were given a trip home to visit family after ten years of service, however because home was so far away and reached by boat they needed a good chunk of time.
