Default how to report harrassing phone calls

i keep getting phone calls from 'call centre staff' people saying they are calling on behalf of australian research group etc etc
i have asked them literally about 10+ times not to call me, we have a silent phone number and are registered on the do not call register
    YET I KEEP GETTING CALLED!!!!!

I'm sick of it. One time i was called again literraly 8 seconds after hanging up on them AFTER asking them not to call me ever again.
How and who can i report this to? surely this cannot be allowed. They call at all times of day, all days of the week.
When i ask for their director name, their phone number and ABN i got hung up on

Arrgghh!! The SAME thing has just happened to me! Those b@stards have started calling me during the day (during bub's morning nap...grr!!) to test if there's anyone at home during that time of day. We have a silent number, too, but honestly, it's almost impossible to keep track of who's got your number these days. I also just put our number on the 'do not call' register so hopefully that'll make a difference - the website said it can take a while to take affect, though.

Anyway, I feel your pain but I have no idea what else we can do

Default how to report harrassing phone calls

This has really ramped up here too, calling both the home phone and my mobile. The home phone is on the do not call register (has been for about six months now) and yet they still call and call and call. GRRRR!!!!

I think do both of these. No one likes the thought of legal action and a complaint would be the cherry on top!

Me: Oh? Is it nice there?
    LOP: Yeees.
Me: Excellent. Can I have your home number to call you back on? I'm kind of busy.
    LOP: I don't think that's entirely appropriate..
Me: Really? Well, what do you do all day when you aren't bothering people at home?
    LOP: *Dial tone*
Me: *Goes off and giggles to self. Hysterically.*

Are you on Do Not Call Register? it's great! You just register yourself (automated service only a couple of minutes) and 30days later no more marketing calls! It's a free government thing, but you need to re-register every 3 years I think. We used to get calls several times a day on a daily basis and since we registered we got zero!

What do you do about the centres ringing on behalf of charities? I feel like I have to be nice to them cos they do do good work in raising money and it's their job, after all... But it's gotten to the point where no one in my house answers the landline. Rarely during the day, anyway. There's no point; it's either the Mater Children's hospital house raffles or the RSPCA or Cerebral Palsy League or its someone who's dialled the local bank's number wrongly. I also get calls on my mobile from a number I have stored as 'Nuisance Call Centre' and I just don't answer it. Surely even charities shouldn't be allowed to harass you!
