He seems pretty clockwork in the daytime (except today) and then turns into mummy's night gremlin lol!! We have been bathing him every 3 days which we're now down to 2 days (he'll have a bath later today). Seems to either have terrible reflux and / or wind during the night and i don't want to give him medication yet. Finally going to succumb to giving him cool boiled water today which my DH wants to do but I'm not even really keen on that. Other than that he is perfect and we are so in love!!
We have been giving between 10 and 20 Mls of boil water to maddy as she has constipation and due to the heat it's good to keep them hydrated the midwives said its fine as is 1/2 tsp of brown sugar in the bottle as we are on formula
Maddy has been so restless all night and most of today not sure why she is finally asleep now tho yay

It's so confusing trying to understand why they are unsettled...honestly Ivy has not slept for more than 1.5 hours at a time over the last 24 hours...and when she does sleep she wriggles and makes noise and doesn't look happy. I need to go to the shops so its time to wake and feed again before we go!!

Have you tried a nice walk. The fresh air might do some good.

Oh was also told if you are feeding less than 2 hours to put back onto the same boob and not keep alternating till over the 2 hrs. Something to do with the type of milk they get.

relux often bad at night- the sphincter tone loose as they are sleeping.
try not to confuse being tired with hunger - the signs often very similar. will root, cry, look hungry when all they need is resettling. i would try to resetlle if under 2 hours even if it means he is in your arms temporarily.
i know there was a discussion re dummies earlier on in the thread but reflux babies need to suck as it sucks the acid back down and is therapeutic. even tressilian - bad babycentre! - reccomends them for reflux- have you considered using one for resettling so you can get him to go for 21/2 - 3 hourly?

William was 1 mth on Friday and in the last 3 says I have noticed a huge change in his alertness and is awake for a lot longer during the day. It's so much more fun and he loves nuding up and surprisingly loves tummy time ( ds1 hated it). Still getting wind at night and waking 3-4 times but is feeding heaps quicker which is good. Have been told their digestion and routine all seem to get sorted round the 6 weeks and seeing how fast the last month has gone, it will all be sorted very soon.

Have also been told tilting the bassinet if possible so they are not laying flat. Harder for the acid to go up hill.

Ella is 6 weeks (I can't quite believe it!)
My main issues is gas. She is very gassy and seems to scream at night but not in the day.
Also still worried about the shields, but my supply is still huge and she is definitely gaining weight and sleeping and wet and dirty nappies, so will meet with a LC soon after I find out how much she weighs.
Also, sleep like you all, is an issue.. we do have newborns though!

DS has decided to not have a nap today, so no nap for me as DH fell asleep while i was feeding Ella
