One exception is "a" as in "how many a's are there in the word apostrophe". Without the apostrophe it would be the word "as" and would be too confusing.
I always thought you were supposed to use those ' things around the letter to make it 'how many 'a's or 'b's?' etc.

Ha, true! But most people don't seem to know what initialisms are, so I usually use "acronyms" to describe both. And FAQs can be either, depending on how you swing

Excuse my ignorance but how can FAQ be an acronym as well? I would have thought it was only an initialism?

Some people pronounce FAQs as "fax".

I have a grammar question. Tonight I was writing "...in consultation with senior management" but wasn't sure if I should capitalize the S & M, just the M or neither; what are your thoughts?

Using the word 'women' in place of 'woman' (singular) appears to be becoming an epidemic!

I saw it twice yesterday, once here on the Hub and once on FB.

Is the difference between women and woman not taught in schools any more? (serious question!)

It is making my hair fall out in clumps from the stress!! Is it really that hard?

Example ' I love you Aunty such-and-such, you are such a beautiful women'. It's akin to scratching nails down a blackboard to me!
