Not so much a spelling error as a funny 'typo' ...

    Both. Depending on context...?!

Strictly speaking Mothers, Mother's or Mothers' could be correct, depending on which meaning you want. I like Mothers' Day, as I think of it as a day belonging to all mothers.

But the official spelling is Mother's, I gather the person behind it was quite specific.

Yes, see I believe it to be at the end as well.

Got this email from my daughter's preschool...

    Gah!

I once got a card from child care that said:

    Happy Mothers Day'

It was hand written, and the apostrophe was quite deliberate. They clearly knew there should be one *somewhere*...

    Ridiculous.

There were more apostrophes for mum's and grandmother's down the page.

I went to an info night this week for my DD's childcare centre. It's being sold. To (according to their stationery, lanyards, name badges) Xxx Children's Centre's. (There is more than one Centre under the banner.)

Though the current management have 'nappy's' and 'bottle's' as headings in the communication book sheets. I cringe every time I read her book.
