I had my 12 w scan yesterday. All looking great, bub was rolling around like a champ, giving the sonographer lots of grief!

We can't wait to meet him/her. We're booking an early gender scan for 15 weeks because we're so impatient!

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow Bindy, 4 more weekly appointments then a review on frequency of visits again. At least we are paying payments off the cot/pram/car seat from a shop in town near the hospital every time we have an appointment. We pay them off on the 21st, yay! We just need to clear out room to store them now until we make a nursery for our baby.

315Km is a long journey Bindy! Well worth it in the end though

    Hi all!!!

    TGIF long week.

I am now 13+5. Nothing much to report except that MS has been replaced by a nasty head cold. Decided I am taking another day off work to get rid of it instead of pushing through like I usually do. Time for some TLC

5 weeks until my morphology scan and next Ob appointment. Feels very bizarre being effectively left to my own devices for so long!!! Taking comfort that my belly is slowly growing rounder each day. I (like all of us) just want to feel movements so I know bub is growing away x

Bindy - thats a looonnggg trip!!! Will you deliver closer to home?

Nayez - hooray for bed rest ending!!! Woohoo

Torie - you are so organised! I am still a bit scared to even go into a bub store... will need to soon I guess

Torie I think I have missed something too?

We have to either travel in labour or move a couple of weeks prior. There is a Ronald McDonald house there where we can stay if we decide to move. I'm undecided as to what we will do. See how I feel closer to the time

    SORRY FOR THE ME POST

Hi all, Bindy and Nayez, I have so many appointments due to my close call with cervical cancer 10 years ago. I had a 2cm potion of my cervix removed which could cause me to lose the baby if it starts to open up. If it shows any changes on the weekly scans, like shortening, then they stitch it shut till late in my pregnancy. I see on OB around 2 hours after each scan to check the results every week.

I'm also under the care of quite a few Dr's at the hospital preparing for her birth. This is because of multiple health issues such as my pacemaker and heart problems, clotting problems, possible heparin injections, PPH after a short 20 min labor, kidney scarring and many other problems stemming from 12 years of previous domestic violence (I have an awful past). These doctor appointments (11 in the next month) should calm down once all the assessments are done and the Dr's are confident with a plan of action.

Lucky none of my problems are hereditary I am just special and unique as my electrophysiologist and cardiologist says. Dr's love me as I'm a challenge and interesting. I just want an uncomplicated home birth which I know I can't have but I do have an advocate for when I'm in labor. Our wedding photographer and friend is a student midwife and will try stop too much medical intervention if it's not needed.

Must be a beautiful feeling to be up and about now Nayez

Dancing, I hope you get well soon

Bindy, you may be offered an induction because of how far away you are from hospital, what are your thoughts on that? It's going to be a tough call for you leaving the comforts of home for a few weeks right when your the most uncomfortable as well.

Wow Torie you are a challenge for the medical system! Are they holding off a cervical suture unless there are definite changes? I hope you have a smooth and hassle free pregnancy, with your history though, a home birth would be so scary for the midwife as well as your family. Now that the midwives know you have had a PPH, they will have a syntocinon infusion ready to give immediately after the baby is born. It is unlikely you will have a second PPH as they will be well prepared. Fingers crossed!

The OB I am seeing is an interventionist and will offer an induction, but unless it is needed for PIH or post dates, I dare say I will decline due to the cascade of interventions that generally follow. But who knows how I will feel later! I have worked with her when I was a midwife in her town. She had come straight from South Africa where routine episiotomies, enemas and pubic shaves were the norm. It never went down well in our hospital and she changed her practise over a year or so. She is very thorough, never misses a beat although she is also Caesar happy. When doing our ultrasound the other day and the BPD was measuring two weeks ahead, we laughed (I think I actually groaned thinking of the pain lol) an she asked me of my birth preferences. I told her I don't want anything sharp near me and that I would rather tear to an extent etc and only want a CS if absolutely necessary am she was very agreeable. It put our minds at ease that she wasn't pushy and now seemed so against episiotomies given her history.

    The joys of childbirth! Lol

Wow Torie that's a lot of medical concerns!! Sounds like u r in good hands though

Nagez - are u off bed rest now?

Bindy - wow that's a long trip! We were going to be in the same boat if we stayed in the country but relocated back to the city late last year (we were 400km away) so that's one bonus of being back I guess
