Child doesn't come out craving for a cigarette. Heroin it does.

I thought a baby born to a smoker was born with a nicotine addiction?

    I hate these topics.
I have been a smoker for 14 years It sux.I got a suprise BFP when I was 21 and tried my hardest to give up smoking.
I still had a few wines here and there, smoked more than I should have and ate what I shouldnt have.I was so misinformed coz I was young and dumb and didnt have the knowledge Made it worse my Mum enabled my behaviours coz "she did it and we turned out fine"
2nd bub I was older, wiser and way more informed.I still smoked...maybe 1 every 6 weeks...which was awesome for me when I constantly had my family smoking round me (not my DH,hes never smoked,he would get soooo cranky at me!)
Its a hard thing...its not really black and white...parenting rarely is.
Let people make their mistakes and let them deal with the conseqences.

Chrissy did an idiotic thing and she knows it. I don't get why she is getting a pity party. I like her but am sick to death of hearing about her.

Babies who are born to mothers who smoke a lot do actually come out craving Nicotine. Yes a baby born to a heroin addicted mother is hard to see working as a nurse I have seen them and it breaks your heart but babies dying of respiratory problems happen more often and later on when they are a little older because of what the expectant mother did. However with smoking an expectant father also causes problems for the developing foetus it is not soley the mother's fault.

I don't do either but when I do get PG I'll either have to live in constant pain due to some massive injuries or take my pain killers that are known to cause birth defects. Hard call when you have spent days in tears from the pain, panadol doesn't cover everything.

I'm not angry at her. I get more frustrated with people judging her, although it is a good topic to discuss and media attention on why its bad to smoke while pregnant is a good thing. There is so much misinformation out there

I was coming on to write the same thing. Glad I read through first. I also think the timing is quite suspect that she confessed a week before her show started up again. Hmmm free publicity???

I sit on the fence with this one. Yes she is human - yes humans make mistakes and I truly believe he is sorry/ashamed. But I just find it really deplorable people who smoke while pregnant. I just do. I think its selfish. i am sorry if that is unpopular.

I do believe he is truly sorry/ashamed for what she did...

You thought right. Smokers babies do go through withdrawels and usually suffer symptoms.
I'm not going to crucify her- I imagine she's doing a good enough job of that herself.
